I never really enjoyed Halo, but the millions who did can't be wrong. Obviously if it can be enjoyed by so many people it is a good game, just not for me.
Prime, on the other hand, absolutely blew me away. It's so fun to walk around phendrana drifts looking around at everything. And the amount of fear upon first discovering the metroid presence there is brilliant.
Alot of games try to be like movies, having you playing the bits in between cutscenes (even in RPGs where you get hints from other characters), but turn visor warnings off in prime and you have a game where you truly discover things for yourself.
Whilst I personally will prefer Prime 2, I'm sure many will enjoy Halo 2.
Just to clarify for Dustin G: If you read it correctly you would know I was referring to "Microsoft" being rookie system creators not Bungie being rookie game makers, and yes, Halo actually was a very unknown title when it was first briefly shown in video form at E3. I was there, and the only people that knew what they were seeing were the high level business executives. And to Yami, I think I probably will pick up the DS. I just wish that nintendo would create a killer app designed specifically for the DS. So far it's pre-existing games being edited and ported, but that's not all bad I guess. Has anyone seen the E3 video for the new Zelda? If you haven't do so. New Klear is right. It's the Zelda everyone has been waiting for since they completed ocarina of time. IGN has some really nice videos of it.
Woohoo i just got me GC-to-PC converter, for all you emulation gamers its a must, its called "Super Joy Box 13".
Anyway back on topic, ive read some reviews on Halo 2 and saw some screenies, doesnt look like theres much difference at all just a few more guns and some spiced up graphics, its been all over the news, my bro told me that EB opened up its shop at 12:00AM - 2:00AM and sold over $20,000 worth of things, that was just at one EB store for the opening of Halo 2, so sale wise its going great and from a few reviews its not too bad, IGN gave it 9.8 and MP 9.7, Gamespot gave it 9.4 and MP 9.7? so Metroid Prime 2 can only improve.
shit monkies! i just got Halo 2 AND Minish Cap and both are unopened... see how long i go just looking at the boxes before having a breakdown of some sort.
I read a Halo 2 review,
It said that the one player is short and not very interesting at all, However the multiplayer modes are fantastic and should be the reason a person would want to buy it.
So if you have xbox live its a 9/10 but if you dont its about a 6/10
and its hard to tell if a certain game will outsell another, surely by now there must be loads more ps2s around than xboxs so would gta san andreas outsell Halo 2? who knows, because Halo 2 is the only big game on the xbox this christmas. And half life 2? how many pcs are there out there?
i read a review on San Andreas that gave it 2/10. so that MUST be crap too.
its pretty good so far, feels just like the first one but with new levels which i like. glad they didnt change too much. the story? seriously its so involving, deep and *apparently* (havnt got this far) its full of twists. And multiplayer? i think thats crappy compared to the H1, you can only have 2 types of vehicles. in super huge matches a lack of vehicles is just pants.
thing i dont like about it; no Halo. i miss the setting. Earth is such a boring place.
I personally don't care which game sells more. I'm just glad if I can get the game and play it.
However. The first Metroid Prime is definetly a better game than Halo. Not that Halo isn't a good game, it just lacks that little extra sparkle. Very repetitive after a while. Nonetheless, Halo is the best game for the X-Box. All the other games for the system, that aren't multiplatform games, suck. They totally ruined DOA 3. It was boring and dull. Not at all at the same level as DOA2.
Halo 2 has potential, so does Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.
I played the first halo and really couldn't work out what all the fuss was about... and don't say multiplayer as there are easily 100+ games which can be equally as fun over a LAN. However, I am looking forward to half-life 2 on tuesday
Metroid Prime had the different methods of viewing... hell X-Ray vision is just awesome.
but im really getting into Halo 2 now. the way i see it is Halo is like your playing in a movie, and in Metroid your just thrown onto a planet to do your own thing, like one of those interactive books you probably read as a kid... non linear etc.
meh. both games are very good. and Minish Cap. american zelda fans; IMPORT! its like nintendo/capcom beautifully 'borrowed' everything that makes each individual zelda game good and fused it into Minish Cap
I got Minish Cap a couple of days ago, and finished it in one day. Not because it's short, but because it's fucking boring around here leading up to exams. I don't like everything about it; I think the shrinking bits are pretty pointless and it's annoying having to run back to a stump or jar all the time, and I think that the whole Kinstone thing is just a cheap excuse not to have any real sidequests. And the cloning is a pain in the ass. I also wish the gambling for figurines was more like SSB:M, because it takes way too long to do. I still really like it, but I don't think it's developed the series in any way other than adding pointless item collecting. Towers over other GBA games though.
