i build this pc myself but i had no clue what cooler i should get so i asked at the shop
and they were like "what cooler do you want?" and i was like "i dont know thats why i am asking you"
and he was like "what cooler do you want?" again and i was like "i really dont know about coolers. what do you suggest" and he was like "what cooler do you want?" and i was like "how about you give me some options" and he was like "what cooler do you want? we have got 200 different coolers" and i was like "i dont know. some cooler that is pretty silent"
i fucking hate such service
well i think i will buy myself some water cooler
and i just looked at the temp after it rebooted itself- i am sure now. it IS overheading (i also opened my case so the air can get out better)
I dont know if this is the answer, & I dont really feel like going through & reading everything other people said yet, so here's my 2 cents. If it was me, before messing with the inside of my PC, I'd check to see in the MSConfig, just to see if something MIGHT have been inserted there & isnt being classified a virus. It might be some sort of timer that ticks & then restarts the PC at will. Now I dont know if anyone said this yet, but I'm just saying what I would check first. If you dont know where it is, which some people dont, go into Start & click Run, then type in MSConfig, then look in the Startup tab. Hope this helps at all.
I used to have this problem myself (computer would restart itself) and it turns out there is an option in Windows XP that restarts the computer instead of showing a blue screen of death...
To check go to Control Panel->System-> Go to Advanced tab, locate "Startup and Recovery" and click settings. find "System Failure" and make sure that "Automatically Restart" is unchecked.
mwa hahahaha, you say 69 c is bad, i fried bacon as an experiment on my celeron and my pc is still running, around 58 c is ideal, 38 degrees is what you can get with a watercooler, older cpus such as pentium 2 dont even need a fan.
Your problem can be a harddrive problem, see if your harddrive has been recalled because thats happened to me once and i was pissed.
That's a secret? haha.
That doesn't always solve restarts, it does stop the 'blaster' worm. Anyone who still has that worm is a retard though.
It's doubtful you're getting that many system failures, and all this advice is probably just messing with settings that'd be better to not be 'unchecked'. It's either your CPU or your power supply. My guess is your CPU, mine is always around 40*c.
thinking is like pong, it's easy, but you miss sometimes.
