I know this sounds stupid, but could we take off the DC points. I never liked them. It makes me look like a n00b all because I don't ever submit anything even though I have this archive full of stuff.
I also just noticed this "Post Type: Text | Oekaki"
The ability to control the popularity of fellow DC members wouldn’t be a bad idea though. We all know each other well enough, so the ability to give the person a rating (change it once a day) would be a nice idea. Their DC rating would be based on how others like that person.
I'm not talking about the ability to add or remove DC points, I'm talking about the ability to rate the person 1-3, sort of like articles, you can change your mind about how you rate someone (Dislike, Neutral, Like) once a day. Their rating would be based on the percentage of likes and dislikes, neutrals wouldn’t be counted.
You would only have one vote per person, once a day (or week) so one vote wouldn’t make a huge difference; it’s a matter of how many people actually feel that strongly with that one vote. So if someone like Phizzy were to vote 1 dislike on someone, but 49 other people post a like on that person, his rating isn’t going to be damaged by much. And Yami hinted a good idea. We could have some sort of automated reward once a week (or month) that would award people with the highest popularity, adding stars to the rating. And maybe, to keep people from going crazy with stars. You can’t win 2-3 weeks (months) in a row, the runner up would take that place. This would be one of many very small, and possibly ineffective, but worthy shots to inspire n00bs to want to increase their rating, through being appreciated by fellow members, rather then spamming.
By a route obscure and lonely,
Haunted by ill angels only,
Where an Eidolon, named night,
On a black throne reigns upright,
I have reached these lands but newly
From an ultimate dim Thule
From a wild clime that lieth, sublime,
Out of space
Out of time.
Edit: Ok, it turns out it just doesn't show up all the time Does anyone else doesn't see their rating appearing on the left side of the screen? (under My Daily Click)
The ratings system has been updated by Club (hero) - the existing ratings not appearing in the sidebar seems to be a side effect of that. Let me know if I've fixed yours.
Edit: What's happened to mine is a phenomenon that I'm currently investigating as well.
DaVince This fool just HAD to have a custom rating

65535 DC points... Heh.
The DC points thingy don't show how good or n00b you are, but I think the stars should depend on what people think of the stuff you send in (affected by when you vote on something of that creator).
