Who is following the events at E3 this year? If you're not, you may not know that the PS3 price has been announced, and it's gonna be a minimum of $500. The decent model will be $600, which is gonna come in at about £400 in the UK. Conversely the Wii is expected to be $199.
I don't know about you, but I'm getting pretty disheartened with this "next generation" malarky. Sony demoed some games at their press conference: I saw 2 racing games, 2 fighting games, 1 boring-looking FPS, and 1 carbon copy of a game already on the PS2 (singstar). That was before I got bored and went to bed. The only semblance of originality was an Eye-toy based card game, but God knows how that's going to work. From what I've seen there is nothing new to look forward to apart from shinier graphics and £60 games which will ship incomplete and require you to purchase upgrades for from silly online shops.
I am actually now looking forward to seeing what the Wii has to offer. Dumb name aside it looks like it has a genuine shot at providing some original entertainment. Graphics may make a game look nice but they sure as hell don't make it fun, and graphics seems to be the focus of the other 2 new consoles. Is anyone else growing weary of the same old regurgitated crap being churned out for PS3 and Xbox 360? Or am I being a whiny old fool?
Well, ofcourse i look forward the most to PS3.
But with the price so high, and that im really curious on what Wii has to offer, im probably going to buy a Wii first of all the three...
Good. glad I wasn't the only one underwhelmed by the Sony media event. If anything it's pushed me towards getting a 360, might pop out and buy one today if there's any good games on it. When's Halo 3 out? Haven't been following the 360 as much as I probably should have
Well it's Nintendos even in about 2 hours. should be a good un, just want to know all about these secrets, price and europe launch date too. Metroid Prime 3 and Mario 128 are just too important.
Anyone read the Time article about the Wii? The reviewer totally fell in love with it. Going on about the controller putting him in the game etc. But the controller housing a mini-speaker sounds excellent. Very excited about this one
I'm really not excited about the same type of games with revamped graphics. I'm more interested in new ways of playing games and so far Wii is the only one that is doing anything about it. It's entirely possible the Wii will steal the show and perhaps even the "Next Gen" competition. The way IGN, G4 and all other big pushers in the industry are talking about it and hyping it, seems to me that Nintendo finally has a chance to reestablish itself.
The sheer ammount of third party developers that are already onboard and excited about the Wii's controller leads me to conclude that it will have quite a chance. If any system I purchase it will be the one that is possibly revolutionary and about 3 times cheaper then the others. Hmm, that only leaves one system.
thinking is like pong, it's easy, but you miss sometimes.
Sony stole nintendo's motion control idea! Anyway, I agree that both the PS3 and the XBox are way too expensive for an amature gamer like me, I might buy a Wii if it's cheap enough, but i'm still pretty happy with my DS...
Anyway, i'll be following the news very closely from e3.cnet.com and other places.
No but keep in mind that the "power" of the consoles won't be really evident for a year or two (while developers get used to their platforms). The Rev. is plenty powerful.
I do find it funny that Sony added in that "tilt" feature with their PS3 controllers. It's a sad, sad replacedment for the Rev. controller (I know it's called Wii, but it's still Rev. to me).
I personally can't wait for Bio-Shock; the spiritual successor to System Shock (SS2 rate easily among my top ten favorite games ever).
Even so, I still think the PS3 will sell the most units. Nintendo also didn't invent motion-controllers so you can't really say that Sony stole the idea from them (although it's very likely they did base the controller on the Wii's controller).
I'm not going to buy a Wii, simply because I'm not the kind of gamer who really wants to move around a remote control and stuff (I'm too lazy lol). I'm just an old gamer who prefers the normal controller. I'm going to see the reaction to PS3 and then decide whether or not to buy a PS3 or and Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 is tempting though because of the huge price difference.
