The funny thing is theres all new consoles coming out, but our old pal the PC comes along and swipes them straight off their "next gen" pedestal. Sweet mother of jesus have you seen the demos for Crysis? Apparently in the game you're armour suit has a power distribution system much like the X-wing series games. You can shoot trees up and they fall down, and you can use them for cover and so does the AI.
I think that the Wii looked like the best new console (despite the embarassing name) mainly because no games on the PS3 or the Xbox 360 have caused me to lift an eyebrow so far, and the Wii has zelda on it .

The PC will always be the best alternative for gaming due to its versatility and its constant advancing. However, of the "next gen" consoles, I personally prefer the Xbox 360, and it will be the only one I will be buying until metroid prime 3 comes out(then I'll have to get the Revolution...er...Wii...). I personally prefer power within games and graphics along with the gameplay, plus I hate sony, and along with the massive amount of games I want to play which are on the Xbox 360, and its superior graphics, its my kind of console. I don't think the Xbox 360 or the PS3 have earned the title of "next gen" however, I think only the Wii has with its unique controller style and setup. You can't call using wireless controllers, the ability to turn on and off the console from the controller, and HD rendered graphics, next generation. All of those things aren't new, or overly advanced features.

The Xbox 360 is a very powerful machine, and I think we have yet to see a game that pushes it to the edge of its limitations. Really, I think microsoft would have done a lot better releasing the X360 at the same time as Halo3, because then that would give everyone the necessary incentive to fork out and buy the damn thing.

My parents never let me have a non-handheld console (unless a PC counts), but they're always begging me to get excercise, so maybe they'll let me get a Wii...
Anyway, from what i've seen the Wii looks way cooler than anything else, I mean who cares about graphics if all the games are either the same or bad? The DS beat the PSP because there are tons of awsome and original games for the DS, and none for the PSP, that's what people really care about.
My predictions:
-The Wii will outsell the 360 and the PS3
-The PS3 will be a flop, causing Blu-Re to die
-The 360 will soon stop selling because everybody who it appeals to will already have it
-Nintendo will finally become king of the gaming market ... again
-Hundreds of new gamers will be "created" because of the Wii, possibly causing more people to klik
