One of the new summer indie Xbox Live Arcade game releases. Who's played it?
I bought it, absolutely loved the game. It was perhaps one of the most innovative idea's I've seen in a particular genre, specifically platforming. Yes, yes... time travel has been done in the past, and as such, perhaps made much better sense in other games... but this game by no means deserves to be over looked. It was new, it was innovative, it was very challenging, but not without equal or higher feelings of pure satisfaction. Not to mention it was flat out beautiful. I fell in love with the graphics and the music upon having been made aware of them.
So how about anyone else? Anyone actually try it? Buy it? Beat it? Love it? If not, I suggest doing all the above.
I bought Braid as soon as I could get my hands on it. The graphics are stunningly detailed imo and are just very pleasing to look at. My only complaint is that the game is far too difficult for me, I've search for a few hints on YouTube already and I'm only half way-ish through the game. Also love the Super Mario references.
I totally enjoyed the game. It was surprising to find out that along with great graphics and musics and gameplay, it has even an awesome story to tell! Though I realized that last one when I completed the game, you really need to do that to understand the story.
For Adam: When will you find graphics that are good in your opinion? I've seen so much blame from you that I wonder if there even is any graphics you like to watch...
Anyway, Braid is a very good game. The hardness is a feature IMO.
I think Adams problem is that he got such good feedback from us on the board, for relatively unimaginative layer trickery from Photoshop, that he judges harshly of other peoples work. I love the art in this game. I'd be lying if I said it was it's best quality, because it's not, and I think that says something. If this beautiful artwork isn't even the games best quality, then what's that say.
The graphics were great, but I find the difficulty to be it's best feature. I truly felt so accomplished anytime I solved any of the puzzles. I loved it! The last level got it's fair share of "What the fuck am I supposed to do?" because it made me feel rushed, and with like no options... but the ultimate ending was very unique and innovative.
Played the demo, didn't really enjoy it to be honest. Also don't like the graphical style, no matter how well drawn it may be... the style just isn't for me.

But yea. Art direction, visual style don't require big graphics cards and such. I'd say older Sonic games have better direction that the new ones that seem to just 'glue' landscapes together.
Also: Not keen on the game too. But I was never a fan of impressionist graphics like that, the music isn't too memorable and the game itself is much too short with no replayability. TBH I'd rather play Donkey Kong GB again (is how you do a long puzzle/platform game).
Just arrived in NYC. WTF does me playing on a wii have to do with anything? If Braid was a wii game, I still wouldn't think any differently of the gfx. Im allowed to have an opinion, and if you feel you have to disagree with it by personally attacking me, then you suck.
I think the point is that he took your downplay upon the graphics as a shot on whether or not the game is good. At any rate you never said that. Although I did find myself ALMOST thinking you did. The comparison between the Wii games refers to although some games may not be pleasing to the eye, that does not necessarily mean that the game can not be enjoyable.

Couldnīt have said it any better. Though I havenīt the game, it looks very polished. Everything lovely.

The "poetic" Mexican strikes again.
To see either verbalized thought or graphic pseudoart from you is like hearing the sounds of pigs being slaughtered, aztecs in the process of sacrifice or watching vultures circling a corpse. Likewise your unthreatening, meandering and predictably unsurprising, pussy-like response.
Oh please, dealing with drama queens is not on my agenda, this is TDC, not the Pony club. You're the one that provoked me by agreeing with a completely inaccurate description in the first place.
I'm just going to quote some of what I thought about the demo a few weeks ago:
"The story is quirky enough and you might even walking away from the game with a lesson learned. The control scheme is simple enough, using just the left joystick, the X and A buttons, and the left and right triggers or bumpers. It plays a lot like Super Mario Bros. mixed with a bit of Blinx or Chronotron. Graphically, it's a "beautiful" game; It's got striking visuals and a nice style, which is beautiful in it's own way. The sound is nice, too, complete with it rewinding as you rewind time.
I'll admit, for a game I downloaded for an entry into the Summer of Arcade event, I was pleasantly delighted at what I had tried. Delighted so much, in fact, that I played it again five more times."
If my 360 didn't RRoD the day after, I might have considered buying the full game. But then I rememebered Castle Crashers was coming out in the next two weeks. That, and the game seemed to RRoD my 360.

I've been in possesion of so many XBOX 360 consoles, from Core, to Premium, to Elite. There have been times when the console has been running for countless hours, yet I have never experinced a RRoD. May sound silly but thats possibly because I live in the UK, a much cooler enviroment than the states? Just a thought...

I have no idea what the actual release dates were over in the UK, but would it be remotely possible that you guys got the newer model first? Or rather, you bought it when the newer model was out, in which case, you shouldn't get a RRoD at all.
MS have fixed the RRoD problem. Has Nintendo fixed the Pixels of Death problem? (ie you leave the console in standby with WiiConnect24 on for too long and it overheats the gpu, showing random stuck pixels)
- Ok, you must admit that was the most creative cussing this site have ever seen -
Eh I've had my Wii since Jan 07 and Wii Connect 24 is always on, was even on when we went on holiday for 3 weeks and it's ok infact none of my friends, RL and online have had this (unlike the RRoD). They must only offer free extended warranties when it's a big problem.
Can't say my Wii has ever done this. You should call Nintendo and they'll probably repalce your console. They'll also restore your VC games to the new console, if you have bought any.
Yes. The RROD problem was there. At first MS wasn't taking responsibility for it, charging people for repairs for consoles broken 90 days after purchase. Then they introduced a 3 year warranty for all RROD errors. And last year, they put out the Falcon revision, which brought down the failure rate to reasonable levels. So people who buy a new 360 will most likely not have any RROD issues, people who have old 360s who get RROD can have theirs replaced thanks to the extended warranty. Problem fixed I would say.
My friend's Wii got the Pixels of Death. He sends it to Nintendo, then get a new console... with a broken disc drive. Apparantly his VC games ARE NOT restored. So that's quite a few pounds down the drain for him.
There are quite a few videos of glitched Wiis on youtube, so I wouldn't call it just "a few consoles" either.

So, there are 32 million Wii consoles out there yet no class action lawsuit against this problem. Meaning yes, it's a small problem. Whereas the reported 360 failure rate is supposedly ~35% (which I find hard to believe, all of my local or uni friends with 360's have needed replacements and it's the same for lots of people I know online).
That's very strange about your friends VC problem. According to Nintendo they transfer the games or give Points Cards in return, so if I was your friend I'd rather follow up on that and make a formal complaint rather than post it on Youtube. Excellent customer support though. My DS Lite developed one of them cracked hinges and even without class action lawsuits they shipped me a brand new one in 10 days. It takes 2-4 weeks to get a replacement 360 here
Mmm, it's a shame Nintendo didn't go High Def. I'll admit I was surprised when they said no high def surport. I was also surprised when they told us it'd be called "Wii".

Yes, some games have real nice models and textures (Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Metroid Prime 3) but is really hurt by the low resolution and lack of anti-aliasing.
