CHAPTER 5
As per standard, you can enter late, but you'll be thrust into tourey limbo where you'll never win and never lose or even compete. Sounds like hell to me! Speaking of which...
SUDDEN DEATH
Bibin and Codemonkey have to face off to see who will participate in this round. It'll be handled in this manner.
-One tourey participant will be vs. either Bibin or Codemonkey.
-Both sudden death participants will make a game as per the round 5 guidelines and scoring categories.
-BOth sudden death participants will submit the game on the deadline along with the rest of the tourey participants.
-The two games will be judged right before the other games get judged. The game with the higher score will stay in the tourey and the game with the lower score will take a loss and will not be judged in the tourey.
So, Bibin and Codemonkey, make a game just like normal, and submit it by the deadline just like normal. You will just have to win against two games to continue on to round 6. Questions? DC mail me.

Sudden Death:
-Codemonkey- VS. Bibin
There can only be one... and one way to prove you're the best, is to take your opponents game, and make it better!
Scoring:
Theme: Anything you can do, I can do better!
Total: x/1000
*Entry uses the same characters and storyline or other things as the game being mimicked. The more obvious it is that your game is based off the last one, the more points you receive.
(notice the extreme scoring!) This round, you must pick a game previously entered into the Tourey, and remake the game. It cannot be one of your own games. You can change the game however you want, but be aware of how the points are divided up. Notice the points in the originality category, You won't be getting those points if you don't make the game better and/or different.
These rules are also added:
-You can not continue a game this round. You'll lose a lot of points if you do.
-A splash screen of some sort must be added to the game which states which tourey game you are remaking. If I can't find this screen you'll lose a lot of points.
-File size limit is 25mb.
-You can't work on a team with your partner. Teams are eliminated in the Tourey now.
You can dig through the previous tourey topics for the games, or find the individual games uploaded to TDC's download section by searching for my name or tourey. DC mail me if you can't find a game, or if you have some problem with a tourey game.

To bad I have MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCH less time to do games now, found out I have a month less to finish school this semester due to the fact that I have to submit this semesters grades before I get accepted to the next one.
I believe he means originality in how you remake it, like the creative liberties you take, how you remix music or new sounds you use, any new features you add, etc.

i don't know is that possible, but worth asking: may we get a week more time? ;>

As far as I can tell- you can remake any single game made by another person in the comp so far (does not have to be your opponent, does not have to be most recent entry). Correct me if I'm wrong though.
it is a bit confusing. I want to pick a game that I can expand greatly on, but really expanding it IS gonna make it different from the origional. But if I keep the actual gamestyle and storyline, expanding is gonna award me originality, rather than hurt me in the 'Fan Game' department?

A hard part about being a game developer is finding balance. The originality category isn't a very lax scoring category, the fangame category is. It's up to you to decide how original you want to make it, but I would err on the side of originality since it's worth more points.

I'm going to remake Shooting Gallery by Fish20. But you're gonna shoot at cowboys instead of fake targets. You do have to challange 'MitchHM, the Best Gunman in the West' though!
wait, peblo, your description of round 5 says we can remake anyone's game, but then it also says that I have to remake Codemonkey's game... I think it should just be anyone's game, as I've already started remaking a fun round 2 game and I think it's too late to turn around.

Hi guys!
I'm sad to say that I have to leave the Tourey. I have to focus on school so I just don't have the time to continue, these last weeks I've only been able to work on a game for like ~2 hours. So whoever wins the sudden death wins the round!
I think I might have to join the emo train and drop out too. I haven't started, and my uni exams start tomorrow. There's still the off chance I'll throw something together I suppose, but it's not looking likely. Cursed life getting in the way of fun things like this!

Well then. If I get lucky, and work about 28~29 hours a day I might be able to put something together then. So you can hold off that revenge a few days more Borgi.
I think Codemonkey dropped out back there, so currently you're against me Bib. But I'm having quite a hard time getting free time to work on the game. But I intend on submitting something. Show us the teaser you talked about, so I know what I'm up against.
This is remake of Base defender by Eternal.
It is much more harder. There is some new stuff like mines, i also had in mind some other things, but really didn't have time.
There is no defender, i didn't draw it, so i just removed it for the time being, but you can still shoot and deploy nukes.
Nukes are bought instead of recharged. My advice is to stock up before each round.
After some lvles, there will be a lot of delay, i will try to upload an improved version today. So lvles don't last too long.
Be carefull with power, if you start without it, you will probably loose half of your cannons. Your mines will still work thought.
I was just about to start a remake of Superfly made in 32 minutes, but when I checked the clock I remembered daylightsavings! So no game from me. Even though it would've been awesome...
NO, THIS IS NOT DYING. I need the prize money. Badly.

I totally saw it dying down near the middle, bit I'm thinking that when it's down to the top 4 or so people will start to change their minds when the prize money is 1 game away.

Well, from my perspective the Tourey never "died", the pressure on the participants grew exponentionally with uni and the likes. My motivation was top, but school needs to come first, or else I'd be screwed for life in my current situation.
But yes, motivation will probably jump through the roof now when the finish line is in sight!

i feel like, yop, this compo a bit slowed dowm, but i'd made a game, but was in a terrible mood in the past week or so. and i just in half way out of this thingy. i hope you understand me, seeya in the next round, i think, im still in with one loss.
