I don't want to bother with pics, but...

Thinkpad 600e, thinkpad 560, thinkpad 560, thinkpad 560, Compag Presario v5000, Dell Lattitude Cpi, Dead Compaq Presario, and an old toshiba at grandmums. All these laptops and only one good usable one, which stays in the dining room as the family computer. >_>

I really can't wait to buy a working good new thinkpad.

GBA, GBA, GBA Micro (Bro's, actually), DS phat, GB (somehow killed it. >_>.

Geesh, I have more than I thought. And none of it is new. I used to envy people who had the latest gadgets and computers, paid for by their parents, and guess what?

I still do. Where's teh moolah when jou needs it?

Handhelds I own:

Game Gear,Gameboy, Gameboy Color, GBA, GBA SP, DS, DS Lite. Don't suppose an Ipod touch counts as a hand held gaming device? >_O I do use it mainly for games after all.

I did have a GP32 with backlit screen but I got rid of it T_T;

Play Doom 3, Any N64 or PS1 game, program your click games on a box smaller than a DS lite.

Most powerful wifi reciever on any portable.

512 NND ram 256 SD ram
Overclockable

Pretty much infinite potential, PSP and DS emulation is very likely.

Those gameboys are a long story; basically, I bought a lot of 6 broken GB pockets and managed to make four working ones out of them. I am going to backlight one of them. I have the extras so if I mess up I don't feel too bad.

The DS is "rubbish" as you say; that is why I sold all three of them.

You should gut one of the gameboys and make it play gba games. Although the shoulder buttons might be tricky. . .

My small collection of handhelds, well only small when compared with Bibin's

From top left; Neogeo pocket, Gameboy advance, Commodore 64 DTV (its not just an old joystick it is actually a handheld unit) Chunky DS, PSP, GP2X, Sega Nomad,

The Sega nomad was kinda broken so i got it fairly cheap. You have to pull the cable towards you slightly for it to work so ive glued it in place. It doesn't work with batteries at all sadly.

I rarely play any of them. I probably use my PSP most.

Image

And my laptop which weights about 9001 kilos but is really awesome. I also never use it. It's more like a backup in case my pc explodes in my face and I'm left without internets.

unless youre talkling about completely gutting it and inserting the inards of a gba, it wont work. inserting a gba or color(one that has no notch in the corner of the game) game into an older model just prints a screen that it isnt compatible. either that or it just hangs on the nintendo logo. dont remember it was a long time ago. it might not show anything at all.

also the bigger screen would mean cutting.

No time for pics right now, but I've got:

Game Boy
Game Boy Advance (original model, indigo)
Game Boy Color (teal)
Game Boy Pocket (red)
Game Gear (Majesco re-release version)
GP2X (MK2)
Nintendo DS (original model, bought at launch)
TurboExpress (With TV tuner! I got this extreme rarity at a garage sale for ten bucks along with a TG16 and 9 games. Best deal ever!)

It's the LCD type. When you pass light through them from the back they wash out 100%. That, and the bulge for the batteries is stupid.

I've got.. well, too much Nintendo really. I've got:

GameBoy Original (Of which the screen is held on with vinyl because it broke many-a year ago.
GameBoy Colour: That's COLOUR. Not "Color" like it says under the screen.
GameBoy Advance with an amazing invisible screen.
DS Original: The sexiest handheld by precisely 3 furlongs.

Gotta love Ninty. If the battery life on the Nomad hadn't been an absolute toad then I might have eBay'd one of them. I wish Sega had stuck with handhelds. And consoles.

Don't ask what I mean by the Nomad's battery being a toad. I don't know either.

Does anyone remember that series of cellphone looking Sega lcd pocket games from the mid 90s. There was one with Sonic like breakout where you had to save tails, and I think another Sonic spinball one, and Ecco the dophin I believe. I can't even find one on ebay but I remember seeing them at the store all the time.

Edit, Found a pic of it!

Sure I had more than that...

Classic GB and GB Pocket are retired.
Don't really play many games on the iPod.
GBA with afterburner mod, GBA SP, GBC (newest of my handhelds :3)
And Powerbook for portable Doomage, Quakeage and Dukeage. +spare PB battery (one of the apparently exploding ones from Sony)
PSP-2000 for GTA:LCS, DS Lite for Pokemon Pearl and GB Micro for Pokemon Ruby/FireRed are all currently in use.

All in fully working order! No dead pixels or busted buttons. And most importantly - no scratches on any screen. Prime condition!

Only you don't get the whole thing with MS, you have to find and download other software to get the same out-of-the-box functionality of a Mac

Leaving you to find BETTER software. Apple's too busy trying to control what it's users are exposed too, by giving them free software and then trying to make it so that file formats only work on their software. And people say Microsoft tries to dominate. If I'm not mistaken, all you little Mac boys have Office and Internet Explorer, no?

Yes, microsoft likes to charge money for the software that only reads their formats. Until they get threatened with legal action resulting from the anti trust lawsuit. This is, of course, only after they give up on the "bug" defense.

No, you're quite mistaken. I use Open Office and Firefox on PC, iWork and Safari on OSX.

A couple of years ago after having a whale of a time with OSX I got my first intel mac and gave XP a shot again. Was really shocked to see they didn't even let you play DVD's. Movie Maker didn't deal with HD films, spent the first half of the day hunting and installing DirectX, new vid drivers, getting a plethora of XP updates. A shame Microsoft still haven't got a 1 stop button that says "update" and takes care of software and hardware. I dunno. Not trying to start an argument but I'd like it if MS made things easier and problem-free - especially in a work environment.

Windows Vista automatically updates both software and hardware. And if it doesn't, it's time for you to upgrade your hardware. Don't argue this, because if I can start my computer up after installing Windows Vista and automatically have updated video, sound, and network drivers within 10 minutes, then it works. Especially since generic products, budget or not, are not the way to go with PC's, so you should always have name brand parts. There's really no excuse.

In fact, the first time I've ever had a Blue screen of death on Windows Vista, I was immediately presented with the option of installing a hotfix which in this case, was a result of my network drivers being corrupt. Installed the hotfix and never had a BSOD since. So to say that Microsoft isn't working on these issues, is a flat out lie.

Software wise though, maybe this is just me because this is actually a particular interest I have and plan to go to college for, but I have found that neither Mac nor PC supply any sort of quality video editing software what so ever. It's merely all just a big wizard in a sense. So to say that Apple comes with better software installed on it then Windows would be not much unlike saying that my stale bread is better then your slightly more stale bread.

Shab made a point that I can agree with though, and I'll dismiss what I said about Microsoft. Apple on the other hand, I wont dismiss my claims about. I think it's pretty stupid if I need to buy Quicktime to watch videos in fullscreen. Especially when Windows Media Player does that and more, for free.

Not in XP... It's not even based in Windows itself - it's what they provide online. So why are they only hosting files for Vista? Another artificial feature to get you upgrading to Vista?

If you're going to argue points at least make sure they're up to date. Quicktime has free fullscreen... The only thing the pro version does is offer a low-level video editing service. Basically just copy/paste vid or sound clips together, move bits around etc. But the good thing about this is it supports real time editing at any resolution, something which only full blown professional apps support.
And no. The bundled Apple software suite is very highly rated. I can't say much for the new iMovie, and neither did a lot of people so they bundled both the HD iMovie and new-layout iMovie and you simply select which one you want on install. And it does HD off the bat... Infact even on the PC-fanboy forums and magazines I see a lot of praise for the iLife suite that comes with OSX. But this is Brandon and anything Apple can't be good aye

"There's really no excuse."
So if you can't afford good, highend products then... be damned! What a turn on the age old Apple and price debate.

And not another XP/OSX/Vista argument -.- Jussstiiiiin

14th November, 2008 at 05:22:17 -

Lol I was just making an offhand comment. Didn't mean to start a mac vs pc war.

But I'll continue on anyway. I've got both a mac and a pc. I barely use the mac. It came with garageband which I like playing around with. I have final cut express hd but I prefer Sony Vegas on my pc. I also hate the dock on macs. There's a dock & a taskbar. The dock is a pain because the windows you're using constantly go behind it. You can hide it to only show up when you put the cursor to the edge of the screen but then it's finnicky about when it pops up. Unless of course you don't want it to pop up. Why can't they just combine the dock & the taskbar into one like windows has?

Then of course there's the fact that macs are rediculously overpriced. And the mouse acceleration problem which I think I actually complained about somewhere on here before. I also don't like the limited amount of customization you can do on a mac. With windows you can adjust everything and anything. With macs you get 3 text sizes and a few color schemes.

After using XP for years I much prefer the dock layout of OSX. Microsoft liked it so much too that Windows 7 has a hybrid of OSX and XP's menu so Apple must be onto something

Pay for quality never had one of my macs fault on me. Never so much as a dead pixel either (thankfully because of their designer pedigree you can be really picky and get replacements for 1 dead or stuck pixel. Nintendo are the same actually). That said my PB was cheaper than the identically performing PC laptop I bought weeks apart...
And you can mod OSX in the same you can for XP. Some might say it's more customisable through being able to easily edit any icon and label, just not the window graphic. And as with anything I'd prefer something designed by a professional than doing a botched job but letting us change some colours around.

PLEASE PLEASE! >_< No OS wars. I didn't even want to read all that poogus. Let's stick to the topic at hand, OS wars never get anywhere.

My DS is a plain silver one too... got the little bugger as a surprise Christmas gift (from whom I have no clue) when it came out. One of the hinges has been broken from use but it still works great and the battery STILL lasts AGES! Nintendo really designed it well. I'd buy another to play multiplayer games with the siblings but I don't have that kind of money to throw around. >_>

This is kinda sad but the first thing I noticed when we got our new dog, was how similar it acted to Nintendogs

Apparently real dogs die when you don't feed them too.
