Okay, so it's pretty clear I'm not going to finish this on time. I'm currently training for a bicycle fundraiser this coming weekend; I've two shows with the band before the end of the month; I just came back from a week in the mountains and I'm still recovering; and I have to move to a new house at the beginning of July. It's just so far down on the list of things to be done at the moment.

I'll have to come back to this later in the summer/year. Sorry I can't fully participate; thanks again to W3R3W00F for bringing this contest to the forefront...it's been a lot of fun! This remake WILL be completed eventually, as things are looking pretty good--particularly when compared to the original.

Here's an URL to the old version:

Here's an URL to the INCOMPLETE do-over version:

http://www.let-off.com/software/seeker_redo.exe

NOTES: you are the fellow in the purple cape. Move over the spirits (the glowing yellow things or the orange squares...I did mention this was incomplete, right? ) to collect them. They will grant you 2, 4, or 6 points (the orange squares give you the most). AVOID the moving grey things, including dark clouds and an evil-looking horned torso creature (though at this point, the torso creature does not subtract from your life points).

When you have points, you can press Button 1 to convert one point into energy and launch a magic projectile either up, down, right, or left, depending on the direction you're facing. Shoot the grey clouds to destroy them; shoot the pillars many times to destroy them (the object of the game will be to destroy five pillars).

After you've collected 100 points from the spirits, your mentor will begin glowing at the bottom of the screen. Touch him to receive 20 additional life points. You have to constantly keep collecting spirits, because even if you avoid the evil creatures, your fatigue gets the best of you and lowers your life.

SOUND: 10% complete

Okay, I extend the comp once again! Two more weeks, that makes the compo last until July 14th! Hopefully everyone will have enough time now. Good luck participants!

I probably won't finish my redo either- I'm a bit laid back.

Right now I am really wishing that I entered this competition before it's deadline for entry a month ago. Though, I suppose then I would be 4 weeks behind everyone..

I'll try to enter then!

Beleive or not, as much as this site hates fangames, I think I would enjoy remaking my first game: Luigi's Themepark.

Me too. Please let me join. I was making a remake of my old game, Spellcaster. I never released it being buggy as it was. I am a little confused about what you wrote. You can alter the storyline, but now the plot? What's the difference? Also I want to add a semi-turn-based battle system to my platformer. Is that moderate enough of a change?

I don't think my game is close enough to the original to be classified as a remake.

Alright, when the NEXT Next gen compo starts you'll both be pre-signed up.

DMT: Plot and Storyline can be abit confusing, but they're entirely two different things.

The plot is basically the underlining, aim, or point of the book, movie, game, or the like. (e.g: Tim is a young boy who isn't generally too bright. Tim has many disfunctional, and sometimes disasterous adventures that teach him that he learns something new everyday, through the stupidity of his nature.)

The Storyline is a collection of events that take place in a specific order within a book, movie, game, or the like. (e.g: Jack went outside, Jack swung on his treeswing, Jack went back inside.)

In summary, you can change some of the events that happen throughout your game, but you can't change the underlining, aim, or point of your game. I hoped this helped.

It did. thank you for your help. But I'm still not sure whether to enter because my game REALLY sucked. It was the first game i attempted but it had terrible and/or library used graphics, loads of glitches and sub-par gameplay. I cannot believe i made such a game. And because it would rate so low, I believe that I have an unfair advantage.

Glad I could help.

I wouldn't say it really matters advantage wise, because most of or all of our first games had bugs, pre-fab graphics, mix-match stuff. Besides, it makes you feel great when you compare the new to the old, because you know that your remake is loads better. It's like making amends for a past fault, only fun. By all means feel free of conditions to enter.

Edit: Grammer mishap. oO
