It's okay to rip engines as long as you give credit to the programmers.

If you just rip engines though, you'll never become really good at game development.

Thats completly wrong, its never OK to steal an engine if your not allowed, that infringes copyrights.

I don't think most MMF code can be copyrighted.

Ok, i think that you can't really learn anything from copy-pasting an engine of any sort for your game, if you can't make it yourself, or are too lazy to follow a tutorial, then maybe you shouldn't be using another persons engine, they made it. Anyways, its not that hard to make a custom platform movement, or the whole Zeb engine anyways, dont copy it, otherwise you wont be able to use it to your advantage. If you make it yourself, you can customise it as much as you want.

If you're going to rip an engine, at least look over it to see if you understand why/how it works for future refrence.

Everything should be a learning experaince, otherwise kliking gets to be a boring hobby.

If your happy with the fact that that part of the game isnt yours then you go girl

just dont make a load of crappy mario fan games with ripped mario world graphics or I might feel the need for some ultra violence clockwork orange style

The first assumption is that ripping music and sound effects is fine. Then people have said that ripping graphics is fine; along with this there is the push to embrace completely unoriginal and ripped storylines (fan games). Finally, you are saying that a ripped engine is fine.

My question is: who really made the game?

If its ok to rip graphics, music, sound and the engine, am I allowed to rip an entire game?
Its pretty ridiculous. Id respect the kliker alot more if they did EVERYTHING original (with exception of music and sound perhaps).

do you make games for respect though? i don't; i just make them as i enjoy playing them, and if other people do as well than that's cool. if you make games in order to get respect you end up with a stupidly competitive FAind like attitude: you may be respected, but you act like a jerk.

Actually playing the games is reminiscent of Clockwork Orange... difference is, your eyelids aren't being held open.
