i fuckin love mac, they are pretty beautiful machines. im on a brand new eMac right now and yea DC looks utter poo on it. so does my site so NOW im going to redesign it
apple says it best on thier old adverts; accountants use beige boxes, creative people use macs in a perfect world, if they could run windows apps.
but im bored with MMF and back in love with Photoshop and Premier (which is also on Mac btw)so im switching to an iBook sometime soon. i dont care if its anymore powerful. sure clock speeds show that the PC should be more powerful but its so useless with resources that a mouse on a wheel is faster than most windows based processors
On the other side, I haven't heard a good pro-Windows argument other than "everything works on it" or "everyone uses it". Most people just use Windows because it's the only one they know and don't want to try anything else, not because it's better.
But I would've thought 'everything working on it' would be reason enough to make it PCs a lot better?
The Pro-Mac arguments given may be more detailed in their reasons, but they are founded on un-truths, such as being better for video/photo editing and the fact they don't crash very often. When I used em at college, I was sick of seeing that fucking bomb icon.
the bomb icon was scrapped after OS8 im sure, OS9+ were the uncrashable ones
my plan is when my laptop gets old or dies then im just gonna get myself one of those new iMacs, with the G5.
something i discovered today; if you have pictures in your picture folder and open up iMovie the pictures appear in the correct window on iMovie, same goes for music. how bloody simple is that, but its so damn useful. needless to say the next windows system will probably 'borrow' some of these features.
one last thing im gonna say before monday's TV addiction begins is one of my lecturers said that almost all the media places he's worked in or seen (ie anywhere from game design to magazine editing) all use Macs. this is UK only mind you. apparently... well not even apparently... the majority of the creative digital industry use macs.
Windows/PC do have the Windows Media Edition which is so awesome. and Windows for Pocket PC which is kinda cool, way better than anything else in the handheld market. and of course nobody can forget Internet Explorer the best web browser out there good thing about windows is that it explorer links with IE so smooth and effortlessly.
I think that's going to move the focus from PC/Mac on to Internet Explorer vs. Everything Else. I'll just sit down at the side and watch. More popcorn, please.
Shall I start the 'IE vs everything else' debate by saying Firefox is a million times better than IE. I haven't used any other browser, though, except AOL but that doesn't count cos it's even worse than IE.
It's not been upgraded properly for years, so its support for anything vaguely new (e.g. PNG/MNG) is non-existent. I think the Mac version is several times better, strangely enough.

Edwin, we have already proved that the price of the shit you buy has nothing to do with how good it is. You can get a PC equal to a Mac for half the cost. You can get a superior editor (Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5) for less than half the price of Final cut.
Even your Mac friends use premiere:
<a title="Open new window" onclick="OpenWindow('/products/premiere/premiere_qt2.html',400,431,'scrollbars=no,menubar=no,toolbar=no,location=no,status=no,resizable=no','highlights_highres'); return false" onkeypress="OpenWindow('/products/premiere/premiere_qt2.html',400,431,'scrollbars=no,menubar=no,toolbar=no,location=no,status=no,resizable=no','highlights_highres'); return false" href="premiere_qt2.html">Premiere</a>
(opens in new window)
Jay: There is NO game manufacturers working on Macs, that's an oxymoron already, you guys have to wait a few years to get our old games, maybe by then the Macs will be powerful enough to run them.
Now, I use Macs at school, they are enjoyable, nice looking, but there is nothing they do that isn’t done better by the PC, even if we stole it from Macs, we do it better. I guess I shouldn't care what computer you use, but I hate seeing people waste their money on crap.
As for browsers, firefox is the way to go.
