Kung Fu 2 was originally created for the 2008 Retro Remakes Competition ( www.retroremakes.com ). When it was submitted, the game was not 100% complete. There were only 6 levels finished. Nevertheless, it won first place in its category (games without sequels).

Kung Fu 2 is a sequel to the NES version of Kung Fu. Kung Fu was originally created by Irem Corporation in 1984.

Kung Fu 2's goal was to take the NES version, and make a sequel with revamped graphics, refined game-play, new areas to fight in, and new twists in the plot.

Finally, Kung Fu 2 is finished and can be enjoyed by anyone!

Story:

There once lived Thomas and Sylvia and their happiness lasted forever...

That is until one day Kung Fu Master Mr. X kidnapped Sylvia and ended their happiness!

Luckily...
Thomas is also Kung Fu Master. He must now vanquish the evil Mr. X and bring happiness back to the present.

Very polished, but a little too rigid in the movement. I should probably try to explain that better, but I don't know if I can. :S

What a great idea for a competition! I hope IREM didn't mind

I'll check out the game soon. I remember seeing it (the competition version, anyway) in action in a Bytejackers video a while back.

You took a great game and made it better. Already played and loved the competition version. Hope some bugs got fixed (I think there was a boss that was unkillable or something)

Whoa!
at first I thought it was difficult and frustrating to play, like the original all those years ago, but Ive just found Ive been playing it for like 15mins without knowing it, it totally rocks this game.
The graphics look Great, the Animations are fluid, and lok great, the paralax scroll looks just right, I will be playing this again later..

i own and love the original. but this one is way too difficult to start. it doesnt get that hard in the original until at least level 3

Dang, i can't start the game :S I get an hour glass for 1 sec when i click the program file and then nothing happens..

I don't know what the problem specifically is. I've tested on multiple machines. Try right clicking on the exe, going to properties, and changing the run time compatibility.

This is close to the original, but not exact.
In the original, couldn't you kick in one direction then hit the arrow in the other direction really quick to hit enemies on both sides?

This is quite nice though and deserves 5 stars.

People need to learn how to use the Favorite button up in the right corner area of the page.
This should have at least 18 Favorites by now

very good presentation and fluid graphics
still suffers from the normal 'insane difficulty' bit of those old-ish games

around level 7 it became impassable to me.

I had a lot of problems with level 6, but finally passed it, just to be crushed once I was inside the castle with that fire boss.

I especially like the OLD MAHSTAH.

And the idea to make a sequel for this old-ass NES game is really awesome / a total surprise. Even those bastards that grab onto you and drain your health like a vampire are the same!
