What the hell is this?

Cannot paste the events: the origin events contain references to a qualifier.

How am I meant to do anything now? I'd have to copy/paste my events into each level, making it REALLY awkward if I need to update anything.

I Can't do any more work on my game because of this. How could Clickteam have this little foresight!? I need certain events to apply to all of a certain object or I can't do it. What really sucks is that this is for a final year project and I've only 4 months to finish the game. I was developing it all in one level, but now I'm doing the others, I'm stuck.

Are they going to fix this any time soon?

No, you can go fuck yourself. You're not funny, and you're not a tough guy. As you continue thinking you're hilarious ignoring my posts in favour of "Random" silliness, you still continue to be not funny.

If I don't get this project finish, I can't pass the year, and don't have the funds to repeat. Stupid me for having faith in clickteam not to mess with a workaround almost everyone used. I'd try and appeal to you on the basis of ethics but it's clear that you have none, in this wonderful internet age of Encyclopedia Dramatica and newfags.

I wasn't attacking anyone in my first post and two failfags laughed in my face! So obviously it doesn't help. Sorry for showing some actual *upset* in my original post, you might be too if you just found out you couldn't finish a project you needed to for college because some small developer suing sloppy coders took out an essential workaround to a problem they still refuse to fix.

You were massive retards, and obviously still are. Looking through some of the PMs I didn't read for months only confirms this, and your admins are the kind that like pushing fakeness as much as possible and will refuse to allow certain things to be discussed in a certain manner since they're seemingly allergic to any kind of heated dicussion. Perfect environment for a troll, and not the funny kind but the sadistic.

However, I'm not going to judge the entire board by the ones that get into one sided arguments with me. There are always going to be at least some people on almost any given board who aren't total dumbshits. Obviously, certain people including yourself don't have the common courtesy to not act like a total jackass when someone is in dire need of help. You can rat on about me getting angry all you like, but I'm not the one upsetting anyone.

Look, it's hard to take you seriously with that awful default avatar. Perhaps you are taking the attitude of an internet community a tad too seriously?

Let's do something hypothetically here for a sec. You go up to a bunch of people you somewhat, but barely know, and deliver a message that essentially contains the following idea: "Fuck. Help me. Fuck. You suck, and clickteam sucks. Fucking suck fuckers. Fuck. Help me or you suck." There's even an equation: Seriousness of post == Post's original seriousness value / number of repeated words of profanity.

Perhaps if your initial post was just asking for help, instead of insulting people who are putting time into something that isn't perfect, people would be willing to help.

After reading everything again, it's not so much Adam's posts that are funny, but your ridiculous seemingly drug-induced reactions. Perhaps we should limit ourselves to *four* cups of coffee per minute instead of the ridiculous twenty four you seem to be drinking?

Now, I fully expect you to flame me after this post because you're pissed off. Instead, try apologizing to the various people you have insulted, and try restating your question in a civilized and adult manner. People might help you then.

I only insulted Clickteam - and with good cause. "How could Clickteam have this little foresight!?"

This is perfectly valid! They consistently refuse to fix relavitely simple problems and charge $100 when they finally decide to give you a new version that's barely distinguishable from the last.

Even if people don't like me, others are going to have this problem. I'm reacting out of anger with good cause. I normally hate when people say it, but grow up. I'm not going to apologise to anyone. If anything, the morons laughing "In my face" should apologise. Why should I apologise and not them? They're obviously not aggravated like I am. Why does this not bother you? Because you're yet another Internet moral vendor that doesn't care who's actually upset, only what it looks upsetting on the surface. It would be unethical for me to take your advice.

Although you may be angry, the internet has a great feature: you can buffer what you say before submitting it. Even if you are aggrevated; frustrated; any feeling, if you're asking for help, not posting the anger helps. Think! In real life, even if you are angry, people are more likely to listen to your needs if you ask for help, dictate that it is urgent, yet remain calm. On the internet, it is very easy! You don't need to type exactly what comes to mind. You can just as easily type a non-angry version that still gets your message through.

I'm a tad bothered by the fact that they *seemingly* made no attempt at helping you, I'll give you that. I'm not saying I dislike you in particular; saying one dislikes someone on the internet after a few posts is childish in the least, but that does not make my point about your anger expression's disadvantages any less valid.

They didn't just not help me, they laughed in my face. Since they know me as volatile, how is that anything but trolling?

What you're advocating is post processing of emotion, which is fake and disgusting. If someone's happy, they should show it. If they're happy, they should show it. The internet is cold and fake enough as it is without making it worse.

Firstly, you claim to be talking about how to solve the problem in your first post, but you aren't. You complained and asked if Clickteam would fix it anytime soon. Not a lot of the peeps here can help you with that one.

As for the actual problem, since you're not mentioning what it is you want to accomplish with the qualifiers we can't help with a workaround (and I'm guessing some people wouldn't anyway). But since the qualifiers/global event problem 'isn't' a totally unheard of problem you put yourself in a pickle because you started a, seemingly, important project without knowing if you could pull it off at all.

Now I'm not up to date what exactly has been going on with you around here, but I have a pretty good picture. And considering that, when reading your first post I'm not fully surprised at their reaction, and you shouldn't be either (really).

Let's be realistic here. You openly insulted Clickteam, you are indeed allowed your own opinion about them but it definitely won't help you get the help you want. And, I can't be sure of course but, I doubt that CT actually "refuses" to fix the qualifier problem more than you perceiving refusal caused by your anger and the fact the problem hasn't been fixed yet.

And lastly, it definitely isn't Clickteams fault your project is falling apart. It's your own fault because of bad planning.

And yes, thats another limitation of MMF. Unless any updates are released, the only option really is to copy/paste the code. And yeah, its time consuming, but its the easiest of the hard workarounds.

Wow, this thread is nice and abusive. Firstly,

Roseweave - It is unfortunate that you have discovered that you cannot copy and paste your events into other frames. However if it was such a large project, one would think that you should have tested that or that you would have tried earlier to make additional frames. At least you know for next time. As for a possible solution, I can't really think of one at the moment as I have never encountered that problem. The only option is to probably copy and paste your events into each level, but depending on the complexity of your program I don't know what to suggest. I don't even understand what you're programming.

Which is my next point. This board is to ask for help on a coding or game issue. Rambling on about a certain product will not fix anything. Please use a friendlier tone on your next post and maybe you won't recieve such negative responses such as "hahaha" even though those people are not being helpful themselves.

And seriously, Construct? As if that program even works properly I understand your frustration as this sounds like an important project. Maybe you could tell us exactly what it is and we might be able to help further. Additionally you may be able to find someone with MMF2 to copy the events for you (if it works in mmf2? I don't know.)

Pixelthief - Wtf? I don't understand how you are able to call everyone here 'fucking retarded /b/ faggots' when the only /b/ references are made by Roseweave himself - "newfags", "failfags". But I agree with your suggestion of copying and pasting the code lol.

It's generally not a good idea to use the global events for, well, basically anything (except maybe "pausing" or "quitting" the game or adding some extra useful keys to for example resize the screen), because ALL frames will use these events, even ones that don't have the specific sprites you ask for, which of course can lead to some problems.

Okay, you could put them in a group but apparently some stuff breaks when you use qualifiers so you'd be better off copying and pasting the code, or making a level loader/editor to keep all levels in one MMF frame and a bunch of files instead.

I'm not the fucking retard that goes on and attacks every single new member of TDC instead of helping them with advice. If you idiots haven't figured it out yet, kliking is an extremely clique-based group where more members of the community are leaving instead of joining.

And hey, look at that. Who are the members of TDC that are actually *good* at klik programming? You've got people like me and Phizzy, who actually know what we're doing, and help out people who post questions in the code-it. But instead, because a whole bunch of idiots with 0 downloads come in and spam the forums, phizzy gets banned and I go with him.

Get the fuck off her back already. You're being a bunch of uptight pricks, and we sure as hell already got enough of that. Thats directly at you, Adam, James, and Tim. Not so much you, Hayo. You guys need to stop harassing everyone on these boards. Go knows if we had some actual moderation here you guys wouldn't be getting away with it.

And again; the only option other then restarting your project from the ground-up would be to copy/paste the code. Yes it would make it extremely hard to update, but clickteam products are not streamlined towards editor-in-editor based games. Generally the best idea is to have a game where you only have a single frame, in which all the levels are loaded, which is alot more difficult to program, but makes designing and updating trivially easy. Unfortunately, all klik products make this much much more difficult then it would be in most other languages. Hopefully Construct will offer easier support in issues like that, since theres no sign of any updates from clickteam on the matter.

Somebody needs a hug and some orange juice.

I suppose it's not common knowledge here that Roseweave is a joke character. Maybe the angry-crew should research first (as Adam also said). It's a preventative measure to keep people like Pixelthief from helping someone who just wants to joke around, but it seems he's happy wasting his time.

It doesn't matter who the OP is. The question has merit either way; Global events won't allow qualifiers. Instead of answering whats not a troll of a question, you all go on attack-mode.

I'm here to help people who are new to programming or just kliking, with their technical problems and games. I'm not going to be releasing games or be part of this community until phizzy is back, if I haven't made that clear enough. Theres plenty of other freeware sites on the web that I post work on. I don't care for the forum trolls that aren't contributing anything. Theres plenty of new people getting their ideas shot down or getting discouraged from the forums rather then integrating to the community, because the only replies to their posts are by trolls.

Quite frankly if it wasnt for the fact theres new people wandering in here who need help, I wouldn't put up with this place. Its like 4chan without any of the love.

If the Admins can't trust everyone to act respectably obviously they need to do something about it.

Regardless of who is right or wrong, these kind of threads mess up TDC.
If you're big enough to admit it Adam and James, you are both trolling up the thread which has rendered it spam.

Roseweave, you could have used a little more tact in your post. Keep in mind this is a generally pro clickteam website, we don't like people bad mouthing them.

And Pixelthief, um, you wont get anywhere with your rants. Adam and jimmi think what they are doing is awfully clever, and any negative response is simply something to laugh at rather than consider listening to.
But also the Admins don't like swearwords so you'll probably get yourself in trouble.

I clicked on this thread expecting a question that I could answer and give some advice on, and had to dig through 3 pages of spam and flames to get to it.

That's a terrible way to judge, surely? Does that mean me and Jon Smeby are Gods amongst people who have submitted fewer games?

I also find it fantastic that you ignore the constructive, positive or just basic 'cheering on' comments I've given (most recent being to that Zelda platform game) and counting my posts in this topic as some kind of tainted standard to measure me to. I suppose it shows a lot on your behalf, perhaps bitter or something else that you should warp my otherwise neutral stance and behaviour on many people here.

Please carry on.

I don't want to read all this nonsense. But I assume someone has told about MMFs limitation to global events vs qualifiers.

You are not completely screwed on this. I'm not sure how your code is organized, but this might work either way:
- First, copy all non-qualified events into the "Global event" sheet.
- Delete all non-qualified events from your single frame with code - leaving only the qualified events.
- Mark all the qualified events (or objects) and hit "CTRL + C" (Copy)
- Open a new frame, goto event list and hit "CTRL + V" (Paste). Or paste the qualified objects onto the play field.

Again, I dunno how you've organized all this, so this might not be ideal.

To get back to the subject of the original post:

The way I see it, you have three options.

One is to rework your code so that you don't use qualifiers...

Two is to bite the bullet and copy-paste all the necessary events (or at least the qualifier-based ones) into each new frame...

And three is to have all of your gameplay take place in a single frame, where all of your events are.

The ideal way to do the last one is with a custom-made level editor and level-loader that works with external files, but you might be able to get away with having the entire game in one frame, even if you don't use a custom level-loading thing.
I'm not sure what kind of size limitations you're looking at here, though... If you have very large levels, you may come up against the pixel-frame size limit in trying to cram everything into one frame, but if it's an object/slowdown problem, there are some creative ways you can get only the objects you need for the frame loaded at any one time.

But even if your levels are so big as to make using one frame impossible, you might be able to at least consolidate things to as few frames as possible, so you at least can reduce the amount of copy-pasting you'll have to do.

Dead on fifth. The best solution is to start a project from the ground up using only a single frame, but obviously thats not feasible for a project already that far along in development. So yarr, no choice but to bite the bullet here.

My current project gridquest is a giant offender in that right; the entire thing runs on the single frame engine, and because of that theres about 3000-4000 lines of code (i can't expand TGF to view the total #). In the OP's case, it will make it very difficult to update the engine as she said, but if it is indeed for a school project or something, it will be enough to tide over for a release.

Sorting through all of this mess is hard work, but what Pixelthief says is right. For my last game I had to copy / paste lots of grouped events over more than 100 frames... many times.. It is VERY tedious and shitty, but what can you do? I had tried to get every bit of code right for that first important frame and then expand from there, but I guess nobody can get it all right the first time.

So, it's very daunting but up until now it's the only way to do it unless you luck out and get all of your groups / events right the first time, which I'm sure nobody ever does.

Epic thread resurrection. Looking at all the posts and badly "drawn" comics that were made about me around December to April you were obviously dying for another few words.

OOI I ended up doing very well in my project, but only managed to get a 2 level demo done, and haven't worked on it since. The Copypasta even between those two levels was ridiculous.

I'm pretty much out of the Click game for now(after about 12 years on/off), I've lost patience with waiting for "that" update and with the fans. Like Pixelthief says there is no supportive place to back someone up with this and I'm tired of finding everyone involved in this even more obnoxious than I find the rest of the internet. I'll probably finish the Adventures of Epicenter game when they FINALLY get Global Qualifiers. Otherwise I'm unsure I can even open the file since it used them in MMF1.5

I'd say by now a few more people probably feel this way. Bumping because I never really got a chance to thank Pixelthief for standing up, even IIRC(I probably don't) the guy he's standing up for harassed me a little too. I do remember quite some time ago things were better in Click fandom in general, even if the software itself was even less feasible in some ways. Heck, there was a time when even Sonic fangaming of all things was vaguely respectable.

Maybe you've changed in the last 6 months, but having encountered people from this site I'd be very wary that anything has improved. And I can't say I'm amused at being used in someone's faggy faux-sprite comic OHO LOOK IT'S A TRANSSEXUAL THAT LOOKS MANLY FACE HOW ORIGINAL AND CLEVER or Adam posting my picture around either. If people looked at what people were doing instead of the tone they were taking, this kind of shit wouldn't happen. Tone is a hard thing to change for some people, but it's pretty easy to avoid doing the things mentioned. I'm a natural mischief maker, I have to hold back too, amazingly, which is sad since unlike the others her I'm not malicious.

This thread is a great example of letting malicious trolls get away with what they want. I mean, sure they aren't swearing at the top of their lungs so OBVIOUSLY we should punish the person that is. Classic Style over Substance. There will always be anger and heated discussions, there is not always a need for trolling. Even the stupidest troll will make it their business not to openly bend the rules. In fact Trolls will often be the first to evoke the rules. They want to make someone else more miserable of course! Or rather, failtrolls like Adam do anyway, since they take no pride in their work.

Either way outright laughing at someone for asking a valid question is fucking ridiculous and warrants all the RAGE that followed it.

TL;DR Stop posting shit about me when I'm not even here and stop judging people by their tone. And for the record I'm not a "High functioning twat", just because you dislike someone doesn't mean you can presume they don't have a condition that from looking at their behaviour, they probably do, and might make you feel like a low functioning twat for supporting people that take advantage of it. It's classic guilt avoidance, Internet Tough Guyism, and overly simple moral complexity(Hey - they have some kind of disability BUT THEY CAN ALSO DO WRONG! And now I will never bother thinking past that, ever.).

Enjoy your golden apples.
