iraq allegedly had loads of links to terror groups so i think one aim was to cut of any funding that may have been going on. Another aim was to make iraq a democratic country.
and saddams regeim did have weapons in the last gulf war but have showed no signs of disposing of any. I think one of the treaties they signed required them to show evidence of it.
I dont think he should be executed, i think they should just throw him in jail and let him die in there, him getting killed now is an easy way out for him. but this way he would suffer .
Rapid Flash is right, US has ALOT more bombs then Iraq.
I say get rid of Bush and re-elect Clinton, so he can sleep with all the women !
I see people who say we are going too hard on him. Bullshit! Over decades he has tortured innocent people. The Iraqis should have a day where every one in the country can go and punch him in the face.
HOSJ... sure Bush didn't do those things... but he's still fucking annoying!
Show me the power child,
I'd like to say,
That I'm down on my knees today,
Gives me the butterflies,
Gives me away,
'Til I'm up on my feet again,
I'm feeling outshined.
I am one of the persons who think someone got something wrong. There is no need to feel sorry for Saddam. He had it coming.
Shab I quote you "Giving punishment equal to the crimes, well then Bush and Congress should get Caned (as in bamboo, at least) for every civilian we killed in this war.", "And I believe that if someone goes into another country and kills civilians without cause, they should be punished.", "No, punish the one's who started it, Congress and bush."
I may be wrong, but you mean something like:" If an innocent civilian dies, the responsible (leader) should be punished". Very interesting concept. Let me see. That means, that because UN decided to enforce sanctions on Iraq more than 10 years that killed thousands of people, especially children, UN should in fact be punished. And because the world let Saddam rule in Iraq killing thousands of innocent civilians we should all be punished?
The last one I can agree on without a question.
Quote Kris "They had no right to go to war either, but that didn't stop them".
Let me make another quote then. "Though shall not kill". What more reason/right do you need? Think about all the lives saved because of the war or is that concept too difficult to grasp? Saddam would have killed many many more in if he had ruled to his death than will ever be killed in a war. The concept of right and wrong cannot always be solved black and white. Sometimes we have to go through light grey/grey before we can reach white.
It's one of those big things that hasn't really hit home in my mind yet. But, when you think of it, he's just one guy who lead and made decisions, but I think his influence will more than likely live on and I believe Iraq will see the bad end of the stick as far as living conditions go with or without him there.
Sure it's a relief for alot of people, but capturing or killing the old man ain't gonna solve any solutions as far as changing Iraq.
It will still be a number of years before we see the place get back on it's proverbial feet. I mean, for pretty much all of it's people, they will not be use to this freedom. It's something foreign, and almost scary to them.
Catching Saddam is the start of a long stressful journey of recovery and change for the Iraqi's I feel.
Infact, we should let them decide what they want to do with their old dictator.
