The reason the US dare not kill him is that if he's killed by the enemy, he will become a martyr, and that will just serve to fuel enemy resistance in Iraq.
The whole point of this war was supposedly to free th Iraqis from a dictator. Now they're freed, what to do with him is their decision. America doesn't come into the equation any more.
Just to point out that although America does indeed have far more weapons than Iraq ever did (or the rest of the world for that matter), there was no UN resolution ordering them to disarm immediately, as was the case with Saddam's Iraq.
I agree with Cybermaze, the route of war is obviously a terrible one, but in the long term it will have been a positive thing for the general public in Iraq.
So your saying war is good Jon? Cause you say the good things in life...sex, drugs, rock and roll...are bad...but they arn't so by my way of thinking...I just think the opposite of everything you say

Somehow, I doubt they actually caught him. Remember the time when Usama bin Laden was supposedly killed? Or when Saddam was killed the first few times?
For all we know, they just caught a guy who looked like Saddam. I mean, most people would just recognize him as a fat dark guy with a really thick moustache. There are lots of people who look like that and many would risk their lives for Saddam.
BTW, Saddam was a nice guy. He oppressed his people and made chemical & biological weapons and made a few palaces for himself, but he was the nicest dictator that ever lived. Same goes for his kids. For that, I feel sorry for him.

Just because you're nice it doesn't mean you can't be evil. Saddam was a nice guy. He made practical jokes. He and his kids brought joy to the country. It was just his bad idea of starting the Gulf War and his greed that spoiled everything. If it wasn't for the sanctions, the US would be picking a fight with other countries.
Damn you, JonWoG. You've tempted me to write a long post about the Asian perspective on this war on terrorism. But fortunately for you, I just don't have the time.

I wouldn't like to be Saddam this moment. Although I THINK I wouldn't put myself in a situation like this.
and by the way, have you ever heard of "den som är utan synd får kasta den första stenen"? Well, maybe not. But this is the swedish translation of what Jesus said to the woman which was judged for crime against marriage. It meens that you can't judge Saddam to be bad as humsn, because you all have act wrong sometimes in your lives, if you are concios about it or not. America isn't "The Most Innocent Super Power Through Time".
I also just want to say that we should be concios about the fact that the natu´re created human, and not vice versa.
Show me the power child,
I'd like to say,
That I'm down on my knees today,
Gives me the butterflies,
Gives me away,
'Til I'm up on my feet again,
I'm feeling outshined.
To whoever responded to my comment about punishing leaders.
The UN is pretty much useless, our little unsanctioned war proved this, they just let us go in and do what we wanted. But as this topic is long over, this whole thing reminds me of a gundam storyline, kinda.
