Just in time for Halloween, it's TRICK OR TREAT! No one was brave enough to trick or treat in the haunted neighborhood built over the indian burial ground... No one but you! Take your trusty chainsaw and slice and/or dice your way through 5 ball-busting levels of action! Pick up shotguns, pistols, and even a powerup for your grinder to increase destructivity!

The dead have come back to life, and it's up to you to ... well, get candy, but that involves killing the zombies aswell!

Made by the unbeatable team of Dustin "Third-Person" Gunn and Steven "The Hulk" Burgess. If you liked this game, check out the last game made by us, Silent Night:

Excellent game! The graphics were just great, and it was fun to play. Also liked the special effects. Thumbs up

So this is for the KA halloween compo? I guess you just got yourself free MMF2 Dev

what a lovely game I very much so like the weapons
Posted by Ski 26th October, 2006

See- this is the kinda stuff that needs to be on the front page

I love the comic treat collection the end of the level
Posted by Plooscva 26th October, 2006

Brilliant. I like the amount of blood. like the ending of a level - after all that he gets sweets .
Posted by axel 26th October, 2006

Yeah, that end of level thing was lollable.
Posted by Dustin Gunn 26th October, 2006

"So this is for the KA halloween compo?"

Yep, and thanks.

Not bad at all, but the enemies overwhelm you way too easily once you're down to that wimpy chainsaw. It takes forever to kill anything, you can't move, and you can't switch directions very well.
Posted by Willy C 26th October, 2006

Really cool. Thumb up! How did you do the rippeling effect! It was awsome!
Posted by axel 26th October, 2006

Perspective object.
Posted by Scholz 26th October, 2006

I like the game but the original chain saw you get cant kill shit.
Posted by 26th October, 2006

Or teh lenz object maybe
Posted by steve 26th October, 2006

Fantastic work here.

Great graphics, brilliant sound effects and atmosphere.
The game itself it pretty good - the enemies move towards you too fast for your chainsaw to kill them quick enough though.
Some small changes in the gameplay design/difficulty and this could be a very nice full game.

The chainsaw works just fine, just don't hold it.
Individual swipes do more damage, and knock the enemies back.

Anyway, excellent game! Good variation in the enemies, nice effects on the weapons (they really feel quite satisfactory to use!) and the smile on the guy's face at the end of the levels is priceless.

...My only gripe is that it could possibly use a boss at the end. Just something to punctuate the whole experience.

This game is awesome, i love it
I love the weapons and the enemies, great work dude.
Posted by axel 26th October, 2006

"Or teh lenz object maybe "

I doubt it. Lens object lags at that size, and the lens in this game was "animated", which is much more easily done with the perspective object. Hey, what object DID you use in the game?

Exellent game!

Animations are a bit stiff/awkward looking, ie the jump animation and the walking (upper body should move as well!). Game play is a bit slow. I mean, it becomes more a kind of tactical game of timing than quick action butchering, because of the way the chainsaw works (or the way it doesn't!) and the skelletons that throw things.. . The special particle effects ie blood, smoke and explosions however are great and the background graphics are good as well. I couldn't stop playing until i finished it, so i guess that's a good sign. Good job guys, thumbs up!

This is really well made and good looking, congrats.

This weeks' GOTW is very tough for once :S Very well made - thumbs up.
Posted by JustinC 26th October, 2006

I like the widescreen look. I wish more people used it.
Posted by AsparagusTrevor 26th October, 2006

I enjoyed it a whole bunch. It crashed for me once on the second level when I shot one of those exploding pumpkin dudes, but apart from that I enjoyed it till the end.

this is great. late to the party again. Okay here I go and leave TDC for a few more weeks again
Posted by Dustin Gunn 26th October, 2006

"Hey, what object DID you use in the game?"

The perspective object. A good time saver considering I only had 4 days to make this.

It's a good game, I can tell, however due to my lousy computer it runs slow for me even at the small size. I suppose the good news is that the zombies are never a problem (since they CAN'T rush you because they crawl towards the hero). This reminds me a bit of that old game called Splatterhouse.

This guy COULD possibly be Ash with a hockey mask / helmet too. The clothes look like what he wears. Good job!
Posted by Dustin Gunn 27th October, 2006

Hahahaha, I played Splatterhouse for a bit on an emulator and I'd be lying if I said it wasn't partially inspirational in a game where a hockey-masked dude goes on a rampage against the undead.

This was a great game, looks good and plays well, did anyone else see that when you walk in the 2nd level you can stand over the first hole in the floor,

Great special effects...

the flame effects seems nice!

Posted by Johnny Look 27th October, 2006

Good game for an Halloween Treat
Posted by DaVince 29th October, 2006

Hah, great
Posted by s-m-r 30th October, 2006

Hope you win the KA compo with this one. Really well done. Definitely nods to Splatterhouse with this little game. And I also agree that a boss monster would be perfect to finish this one off.

The chainsaw's not an issue; it's just that the super-chainsaw works a lot better than the normal one...Just attack with it several times instead of holding down the button.

On the fifth level, the last "swarm" spot is easy to beat because you allow for a large area underneath the right-hand side platform. If you stand below it, then enemies will remain above you due to the pathfinding they have.

Other than that, the game was a nice little diversion. I'll be back to it periodically...It definitely fits the season!

This game kick's butt, 2 thumbs up. Keep up the good work.
