Mars Defender is one of my older games, but it remains one of my favorites, and I still find myself playing it sometimes.

The gameplay is pretty simple, but it's filled with arcade goodness.

In the distant future, humans have successfully colonized the planet Mars, and they are attempting to harvest resources deep beneath the planet's surface. However, we are not alone...

Recently, a large fleet of alien spaceships has appeared in deep space, and they are making their way toward Mars. Apparently, the aliens also have an interest in the red planet, and they'll stop at nothing until they've killed all the humans and destroyed their mining facilities. Your mission is to guard Mars from the invading aliens by destroying as many of their saucers as possible.

Your tank is relatively fast and capable of shooting bolts in rapid succession. It also has the ability to jump and double-jump in order to knock alien saucers out of the sky. You will earn points not only for destroying saucers, but by performing special stunts called Bonuses. The more stylish your moves are, the more points you'll win after the game ends.

Mars Defender was originally featured on the V-Cade, but due to recent problems on the V-Cade site, i've decided to touch it up a bit and make it into a downloadable application. Bon appetit!

This is great fun.

Very thoughtful use of visual effects and sound effects, (Space Cadet Pinball!

) and everything feels tight. I do like the explosion animation of the ships and the squashing aliens and the bouncing recoil star thing from shooting the ships.

I remember playing this in the V-cade.
Good stuff that, it was one of the best games there.

Thanks guys!

The jump helps you dodge enemy lasers, and you can also destroy saucers in one hit by bashing them with your tank. Jumping is also needed for the Alien Hopper and Teaser bonuses.
