FIG is a game about a brainless, green-clothed Guy who seeks to return to his home. In order to do this, he must collect all the stars from 35 different-looking islands. The Guy would be totally helpless if he tried to collect the stars alone (he doesn't have a brain, right?) but luckily he has a helper: you! You must guide him through all the masses of traps that can be found all over the islands in order to complete the game and be happy! There's also some nasty bonus' awaiting you!

The game comes with a tutorial, RECOMMEND you to check it out. the readme also holds a FAQ in it, that may explain some things you don't understand.

FIG is also totally playable with just mouse, and it even features a fullscreen mode!

There's a huge, enormous credit page in the game, but I'll say here some thanks and bigger stuff:

Game musics made by Johan Hargne
Ending music made by Nawby/Noby
Some of the sounds + much more by Nifflas
Many sounds are taken from the freesound project. I can tell you, it's awesome! Go there!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the game! Go on! Download
EDIT: Changed the link to SilverNova

BONUS: Get the soundtrack from www.hempuli.com/FIG-soundtrack.zip

Great game you got here, Hempuli. I see a lot of work has been put into it, and it has got some genious puzzles. I finished World 1 and was pleased. Good job. I like the music in World 1 Level 10. What is it?

This game is awesome Image I really love the puzzles.

Level 30 is very frustrating though, mainly to cut out all the pieces before I can try again (you have to start over with a piece WAY to often) and that the buttons are impossible to turn at the right time because they refuse to turn at all. I know I have to keep at a certain distance from the button but I really hate that. Why not just turn when the mouse moves?

Also, could you make the world selection screen so it zoomes into the world/planet you coose as you click? That would look awesome.

Yeah, I don't really know how I could make the cutting thing faster.

For that zooming, what do you exactly mean? Like zoom to the level when you start the level?

Also nothing I do in Level 30 has any result. Any clues?

I have question: how you create MASK EFFECT in 21 level?

Posted by Zezard 2nd August, 2008
Rated :

This is the awesomeness.

A few issues:
The seagull in Fanland moves slow, even after passing the fan, when it is turned on. No big deal, but it would have looked better if it didn't (easy fix though, I suppose).

The human bridge in Catch the Thief sometimes doesn't build up properly, so that the player gets stuck in the hole.

In Mystic Strings, the player stood on the flag when he waited to fly away, I guess this also applies to all other levels where the player can land on the flag. Yet again, no big deal, but it would have looked better if he landed on the ground in my opinion.

Levels like Fanland and Thick Fog feels a little bit unpredictable. Especially Fanland felt very random whether the little guy would fly away and die or reach the flag... I found it incredebly hard to lift the elevator in Thick Fog in a way that didn't kill the guy, but still got him where I know he was supposed to every time I tried it.

Some of the graphics had a different style, such as the detailed face on the Stomp monster in The Zoo and some small animals where not drawn with the thick brush you used for most of the graphics.

Superb final level, and every other level as well, even if some of them felt unfair. This is a piece of fine art, and a game that suits anyone!

12 points goes to Finland!

Posted by Hempuli 2nd August, 2008

Thanks a lot Zezard! I agree with most of the issues you had. I'll change the rotating buttons in level 30 to something less confusing. I don't really know what to do to help fanland. Thanks for the comments

About Fanland. I guess the only way would be to make sure that the sprite flies in a very predictable pattern, like a path that changes depending on which fans are on. A position in this path were the winds will start to have effect on the guy would switch depending on his position. Lots of work if you don't already have something similar though...

I got to be a beta tester of sorts for this game, and I forgot to give my official opinion! I truly think this game deserves all five stars-- it's the most fun I've had with a click game in a long time. The puzzles were very imaginative, and I wish to stinkus I had come up with the idea. A great game. I don't give it five stars because if the player die, you can click on object and find a solution easyly (at least in the first world).

I agree with Marvel forever with the tutorial. Not really obvious to find it at first sight.

One other problem is that you can click on interactive objects when the caracter fall from the sky.

But again, it's a great game, probably one of the best ever made with a click program.

One last thing, I use a semi pro soundcard and I have problems with musics. But I think the problem is MMF, not your game.

Haha, Marvel, when you give a game one star for the reason of being built on a bad concept, that would mean that there is no way to make it better.

Give some advice of what the developer should do to make it a better game instead of just whining.

If someone made a perfect lemmings clone, I would rate it high, because lemmings is a great classic and overall good game.

Adam, banning people from this community just because they lack citicism skills is just silly. With this many comments, it seems logic that one will stick out.

The tutorial is a bit hard to find though, I think it should either have been next to the world buttons, or an extra level on the first planet.

jbjovi, I think it is a great idea to let the player investigate the level even after the little guy have died. I would have had to die many more times on each level to finish them otherwise...

That movie isn't even worth 1/10 stars, more reviewers agree. On rottentomatoes it got just below 9%.

Anyway, you obviously downvoted the game just to be different and argumentative. The whole "Everyone else says its awesome so I'll hate it just to be different" take on things.

As for the game hemp, christ theres a lot of subtlety to it. I imagine most people who pick it up and put it down without playing it much won't notice how clever some of the puzzles are, and how much is really hidden in the minimalist style. Most people seem to need bright glowing icons pointing out every little detail of a game or they'll get bored with it, but its games like these that shine because they do precisely the opposite. Things like how you get the blue star on the Zoo level are really gems.

Don't worry guys, Marvel has a game in the works. Be prepared to make up a list for why his game (beyond the reason of being and off "wide screen" resolution), why it deserves 1 as well. If he wants to be strict, we'll play that way with him.

A great game, Hempuli! I've been looking forward to if for a long time. Shame that such controversy has been laid out in the comments, but never mind.

Marvel Forever's point in the first post did make sense, by the way. FIG is a Lemmings clone, and his point was that if this game isn't better/almost as good as Lemmings, then we may as well just go download Liero or something.

However, the puzzles, graphics and other differences from Lemmings kept me pleased with this game.

I suggest simply moving the Tutorial link, too. Image

Guys, one one-star rating isn't going to do any harm to the rating this game has already received. Even great mainstream games will have several people that simply don't like the game for whatever reasons. Certain games just don't appeal to certain gamers. It's inevitable. If everyone was pleased with how the game is already, then the developer has nothing to work on, and a possible sequel would remain exactly like the first game. (Not that I'm suggesting this game has/needs a sequel, but I was simply stating a point.)

Everyone, this situtation wouldn't of been a big deal if you hadn't of retaliated to it in the first place. Image

Oh, and by the way, if you all just rate his games poorly simply because you feel that MF's opinion was harsh, then you're even worse than (you think) he is.
With that said, the swearing was kinda' uncalled for.

Four stars, BTW, Hempuli! I've been looking forward to this game for a long, long time, but there are still some minor flaws that could do with fixing. Apart from that, this game was very pleasing and definitely deserves GOTW.

*Nice graphics that reminds me of Worms.

*Good music that gets ya in the right mood.

*Small, funny details, like when the carnevour plants open their "mouths" and so on. There's a lot of these details, I love it.

unless i just haven't realised that you CAN do this i would suggest that at the start of each level all the functioning objects should briefly be highlighted, otherwise in some levels you may find you just can't do it because there was an object somewhere that you didn't notice cos it looked a bit like the background , which is a rubbish way to not be able to do something.

apart from that its a nice original puzzle game and I really like the proper music and no awful midi music, i mean come on what decade are we in people, stop using midi's just 'cos your games 2D.

I strongly disagree with you, Mr_Tom.

As I see it, finding out the "clickable" objects by yourself is part of what makes this game so brilliant.

>>>>the green guy should be able to walk on the boat. You'll need to move the sub quickly though to make sure your guy walks onto the boat though. If he falls in the water, you pretty much have to restart.<<<<

I've already tried to do that a considerable number of times, at varying moments in relation to the man. The boat simply will not reach the surface close to the left side of the screen. The man will not react to it at its closest point.

you need to do it extremely fast; be clicking on the submarine man just as the level loads, and immediately direct it at the walk. With fast enough timing the boat will be there before he walks

When I write "now matter how I time it," I MEAN no matter how I time it. It is not a matter of speed. The boat DOES NOT reach the surface. It rises close to the surface of the lake then sinks, sometimes before the man even starts moving. It falls off the bottom of the screen.

Do you have version 1.2? Apparently something went wrong when compiling it, and it might affect the boat level. Try updating to version 1.3 (available on Hempuli's site, not sure about Silvernova)

@Snerlin: Noe of those! It's not about doing something million times or clicking something very small.

@JMT: That sounds like a bug. Indeed try the latest version.

Very very nearly a klik classic. Though I'm finding some of the puzzles a bit obscure at times... although I'm sure thats in part due to my slow brain swirling the concept around lol

Great stuff!

Wohoo! Finally 100%! As you said Hempuli, Actually quite logic solution.

Since this game can be fully completed in less than one day's power gaming, I can't really complain about it being too hard but...

Since this is soo good, I do recommend that you make it slightly easier. I'm mostly thinking of the objects which can be moved by holding them. I found many of them to be hard to get a grip on, when it had to be done fast. To make this easier you could apply an invisible mask object which follows the actual object, but is the thing that the player really clicks on. It should be bigger than the actual object, and thus giving the player the impression of the actual object being easier to grab.

I understand if you don't feel like making such an update, but I think it would make it less frustrating at times.

Good job, master-klick-piece and... could someone please fix the comment session so that the BR-tags are not duplicated in the edit text form, please!

can you pm me a hint then?

Which part is it in?

Do I have to move the crane, the box, and the guy a certain way? Is there a way to light up the red lights on the chainsaw (or is it actually some door thing, seeing as it isn't actually a moving blade)? Do I have to destroy the blue lights in a special way other than left/middle/right? Does it have something to do with the spikes part? Do I have to hit something with the missile? Does all the blueness in the last room have any significance?

I've pretty much beaten the game 100 times now and still haven't found it.

While playing, I've noticed a couple bugs on the last level:
-If you restart during the saw/crane part, the saw loop still continues.
-when you beat the level, he walks past the flag and takes off instead of stopping at it and taking off.
-It's possible to grab both boxes at once if you're careful.
-the boxes can be moved under the floor.

A brilliant game. I love everything about it, the premise, the graphics style which is a lovely break from tile-based graphics and I love the way it's challenging. I'm stuck on one of the levels, but hey! It wouldn't be any good if it was too easy. Image

Now this gets 5 stars. All of them very well deserved. This should be a classic.

I figured it out, but it was completely utterly non-obvious. Perhaps that obstactle should have been made of something that looked a little more destructible, as a hint? Because generally that wouldn't be what happens if you did that....

lol, I actually tried to hit the droid with the missile.

I hit it, but it didn't work.

Another bug:
-The missile goes right through the right box.

I didn't expect it to work either. It would make a lot more sense if it was like, a cracked brick wall that made you turn around and fall off, instead of those...

The game is simple but the aesthetic really sells it. Reminds me of Yoshi's Island with some Mario Galaxy for the map screens.

The levels where you have to click things as fast as possible like the one where you ring the bell with a cannon or the one where you have to click off all the lightbulbs in 1 second to get the blue star kinda suck though.

The game looks great, the game sounds great, the game's creative and imaginitive, but the trial and error based gameplay is rather tedious.
I had more fun looking for the blue stars than I did trying to get to the end of the level.

I just don't like practically being forced to die because nothing is set in stone.

On level 4 you won't know the timing of the lifts and will definitely fall to your doom.
In level 6 you begin exploring for what you can click on only to find you need to click cetain objects in a sequence.

On level 18 he'll fall into the water before you realize what you need to do.
Level 23 will most certainly knock you into the stratosphere at least once. There's no real hint as to what will happen when you click on the spores.

How many of you didn't get killed by that crow on level 24?
Level 28 utilizes a physics function that was never utilized before and is never again.

The last level took me a while to figure out because, previously, you never directly interact with the character (the closest you get to it is moving a platform he's standing on), now I suddenly have to.
Then you die right away as another obstacle comes flying at you when there was no hint of it being there moments ago.

It's trial and error, there's little puzzling about it.
Even Hempuli states in the help screen: "Hold [the] right mouse button to speed up the flight of the character; [it] might be boring to watch him fall down and fly away slowly, slowly, again and again..."

Sorry if this spoils events in the game or more embarrassingly: -Codemonkey-'s comment wasn't aimed at me.
I'm merely speaking my opinion. You may love this game to bits. I only ask that I'm not called narrow minded just because I'm not fond of dying.
I will erase this comment at request.

I do agree that games were you will die if you have not already played a certain scene of the game can be frustrating, however, this game is built on the very concept of dying and trying.

As it is easy to die, it also takes a minimum time to try again, and (even though it might have seemed more logical to put it in the reversed order) the player is given time after the guy has died to investigate the level and find out what to do.

If you don't like the fact that the guy can die so easily, then you dislike the concept of the game. It's like, though not really, giving an platformer low points because you don't like the concept of platformers.

Rather than basing your grades on how much you liked the game, you should try to see what it is in it that you don't like, and explain to the developer what it is, and preferably also what you want him to do about it.

I know going off topic in a comment session like this isn't going to learn all clickers how to critizise a software properly (which isn't easy), but it might at least help someone.

Also remember that you do not compare the software found here to professional stuff, but to some abstract idealized form of the specific product (taking the way it was made into consideration).

I don't like the trial and error gameplay, but hey Phoenix Wright sells by the bucket load so everyone else does.

I'm not entirely keen on the art style either, the grassy and rock bits look good but I'm not keen on the character design. It's like they're too obstructively random.

I'll hold off on the rating until I beat it.

Well, if people like a game and someone doesn't like, people often want an explanation WHY this someone doesn't like the game.

Awesome - looks like Im' going to get a review from someone that hates the game :/

I liked the game but it's frustrating enough that I felt it was a negative experience overall.

I quit on level 30 because trial and error gameplay mixed with a minute of cutting out squares for every attempt doesn't mix.

300 is quite small for such a game. TDC's only a little place compared to what will happen as it hits bigger sites.
