This is one of my old TGF projects that I ran across the other day and realized that I had almost no further interest in working on (MMF2 has my interest now). Open source, extension free TGF .gam file. It also includes some old horrible coding practices. It has some comments, but if you need to know how something works, please feel free to ask and I'll answer to the best of my ability (it's been a long time!).

It's a fairly simple vertical shooter, in my eyes it's a mix of Raiden and Solar Striker (An old Gameboy Game, which accounts for the art style). I originally started on just the graphics to improve my spriting abilities by using a limited color count, 4 in this case (Not counting enemy bullets). It worked out quite well in that regard.

The game has one fully working level (I had more, but lost them in an earlier saving error) with a basic boss that has multiple forms on higher difficulties. There's ~13 different enemy types, most having slightly different routines depending on difficulty. The game only has one weapon type, but it can be upgraded 3 times (P Capsules).

Controls---
Shift - Fire
Control - Title Screen Menu
Arrows - Move ship

1,2,3 - Change difficulty (In game)
Pretty sure the + and - keys switch bonus ships (There's only one I think) which have their own firing patterns.

Forgot to mention this! If you hold the fire button, you won't fire as fast as if you "pulse" it. Press the fire button, let it shoot; let go of the button. Trust me, you'll fire a lot faster if you do this.

Now there's an exe for those you without TGF or Fusion!

lol, I'm sure the code is an absolute mess. I came back to this one about every two months, added a few things, then shuffled it to the bottom of the pile. Thanks though!

Can someone make it an exe?

This was really good, especially the great variaty of ai:s. Grayscale felt a bit lazy, but the graphics were still very well drawn (of course, tgf never was very great when it came to rotating small stuff ).

I really liked your weaponsystem too, only losing one upgrade when the ship was destroyed and being able to catch it once it was lost.

Could have been a superb game with sfx:s, colours, more graphical efx:s and a few more levels.
Guess that's why you submitted the .gam...

alspal, I would have if I my server hadn't died agian for some reason (it's in another town...).

@Marvel - As I said, this wasn't even a game at first, I used the limited colors so I could more clearly define the GFX, it was an exercise in getting form and clarity down. The shooter just kinda of grew out of my graphical lessons. It's also quite old, I've got another shooter (1942 style) which has some of my best GFX. Perhaps I'll fix that one up a bit and upload it. Trust me, you didn't want me using color when I started making this game.

@Zezard - If there is one thing I love doing, it's making varied AI. This game definitely rates lower on the AI scale than most of my other stuff, but it is just a vertical shooter. Just a quick note on the powerups; in easy (Default BTW) when you get hit it will always spawn a powerup (even if your gun is at level 1). I believe on hard it takes away two levels and only spawns one back.

Thanks for the comments guys, I've got quite a few other shooters lying around so I expect you'll see more of them here soon. Also, I would be happy if someone decided to pick up this game and add more to it. As it is, there are several enemies who are coded, but not in the level. Everything is copy/paste friendly and fairly automatic (End the level with the escape sequence by setting one value, etc.)

Thanks again guys!

I really like the look of this game actually. I'll be looking forward to seeing more of these shooters you've been working on!

I really like a lot of things about this game. Obviously the Gameboy feel and limited colour palette is very cool. But I really like the enemy ship movements, especially that helicopter that comes in fast and then floats around irradically. This game really could be on Gameboy
