Intro
After almost 2 and a half years it is finished! Well, it's not completely finished, there are some known bugs I've ignored, but hopefully nothing that makes it unplayable In

Game Details
SZC1 you wake up in a city with no memory. You are fighting monsters and zombies. In this new game the story continues right after the last one left off. It shouldn’t be much of a problem if you haven’t played SZC1, the intro summarizes the first game.

- Original Sound Track by Phanoo (http://stefd-music.com/)
- More gameplay time, should take you one or two hours to complete the game.
- Improved physics
- New weapons and enemies
- 3D sound environment
- New lightning system, pretty cool flashlight effect
- Vehicles added
- Voice radio communication between enemy soldiers (Thx Radix)

FIXES
- Game freezes after doctor administers morphine
- Game freezes after the train passes guards

FIXES V0.91
- Killing enemies should no longer result in two dead bodies
- flaming zombie duplication fix. Zombies should no longer duplicate when catching fire
- Zombies now causes 1hp damage
- Pumping arteries in core crash site removed to prevent later puzzle confusion
- Added blockade on lvl's where one could leave the play field
- Various overlapping GFX glitches removed
- Text box position corrected
- Game over sequence is no longer buggy.

- added sound details:
+ train loop
+ execution sound
+ heli sound
+ heli alarm sound

The game was nice, and I loved the atmosphere effects. However, there's very many small flaws that irritate me a lot while playing. I've listed some of them here:
-There's a lot of graphical flaws: people go under/over objects they shouldn't, the scrolling suddenly jumps, Jason bounces when touching a wall, the black background of the chatbox isn't placed correctly, among the nice graphics there are some really terrible ones, such as the 'waterdrops' in the rain, you've forgot dots from most of the sentences when people talk... You really should have tested and ironed these out.
-The movement system is mostly quite awkward, IMO you should've done a custom movement. This can be seen the best in the motor sleigh race - it really took me some time to get used to the strange turning.

Oh well, otherwise than that, I really enjoyed this game. The story is very nicely done, and the engine works at least quite often very well

So far, I quite like it. The graphics are a bit scruffy, but I guess everything's beautiful once your eyes just get used to it! You've done a great job on the atmosphere though (much thanks to the sound effects and the absolutely breathtaking soundtrack), and the storyline is very engaging and, mostly, well-written.

The crit/headshot system is an interesting feature, I'm not sure I've seen anything quite like it in a shooter before, and it gives the gameplay a bit more depth. I also liked the badass crawler/mutant form. The worst problem with this game is, as you apparently already figured out, the bugs. They're practically all over the place, and some of them are quite distracting.

Another thing I didn't like was the lack of feedback, both positive and negative. You have to add more sounds and visual effects, to make the player aware of what's going on, and to make the gameplay feel less stale. An angry, red flash and a screen-shake when you get hurt. Blood and screaming when you attack your enemies in mutant-mode, etcetera.

Overall, it's fun but very buggy most of the time. I won't rate this yet, I want to beat the game first. Rawr.

Glad you guys like it.
Yeah, I know Axel; I haven't done much with the feedback I've gotten, and there really are a hand full of bugs. Reason for this is because I need to focus on another project. But if any critical bugs are found, that really distracts the gameplay, I might have to fix it.

The first SZC was awsome, i beat it about 3 times before i stopped, i cant wait to download this one

FF6 to my believe

the sound seems to be missing in a lot of places, among the various other bugs.

Also I don't know what to do after taking the elevator down in the core level

The on-rails snow scooter section was a big missed opportunity. I would've happily played that for a lot longer.

This is fun, it's awfully scruffy though. But I guess when you spend such a long time on a game you can get eager to finish it and move on.

Anyway I like! it creates a nice bleak atmosphere despite the cartoony graphics.

@ Andy: I will make some final touches before I start promoting the game at other pages. I'm using you guys as test players Image

Hmm, I'm a bit stuck now, too. I got through a part where I put a metal box over a big blue thing's vein. Then went downstairs or something and there is more of the same stuff, except doing that doesn't help. Am I missing something?

Great atmosphere in most parts. You have the feel of the game nailed, I think. It's all let down by the buggy, awkward engine.

I had great fun with the first one, it had a good flow to it and it was simple, yet enjoyable. I think maybe you've added too much into this game, and it all feels very rushed - all the extra things (the lighting, 3d sound... even the player's mutant form) are great, but the core of the game needs a lot of work.

ok finished it.

It's about the most buggy klik game I've played, but I did like how epic all the scripted sequences were, and the hobo and his voice acting were awesome.

I couldn't figure out how to beat one part after the vent shaft area so I just left the screen from the top, circled the level, and came in from the bottom to win.

Hehe great .
A version with a lot of bug fixes will be out very soon.

You're supposed to transform into that creature thing and jump over the gap

Awesome game, and NICE ending. I liked to bonus features, too. Just a bit confusing in places (you put enemies in places that were way off track AND didn't have any supplies). Hopefully SZC3 gets done from the ground up so you can improve the engine.

Really good game.
There are two things that kind of stopped me from giving it a five star.

Firstly it is too hard to pick up stuff, I especially had problems picking up the fire extinguisher in the dark train station...
Then there are many walls which can be walked through. I almost got stuck behind a wall in the room with the vein-puzzle, so it's a pretty critical bug.

Other things that bothered me were the bad spelling, that the battle music was kind of lame compared to then neat tone you had in SZC 1, and that I never found out what happened to that thing in the lake that seemed to swim into the brewery, did I miss it?

You really succeded with the difficult things of the game (like graphics, ai, plot and atmosphere), I just wish you had spent more time with the easy stuff (like collisions and spelling).
Otherwise it was genious.

Posted by Willy C 10th March, 2008

appreciate your comments. I wish I had more time one it.

"and that I never found out what happened to that thing in the lake that seemed to swim into the brewery, did I miss it?"

There was a boss sequence after the office lvl in the brewery, It got replaced by that combat bot lvl. You can still try it out in the bonus feature menu!

Maaan, I don't know what to say. I love the atmosphere and the storyline, it really pulled me in, made me feel like I was in a badass zombie movie. It's a great, great concept, but there were so many bugs that could've been easily removed. This game's got so much potential, but in the end it feels very rushed. Still, I had fun playing this, so I'll give you a 3/5!

Great sense of scale and excellent soundtrack, but the engine needs some refinement and some of the graphics look kind of awkward. Overall, I like where you're going with this, but it doesn't quite deliver yet. Keep up the good work though.

What was missing from this second one that I didn't have in the first one?

Let me just say "one" more times.

The game is very easy, it's more about the story telling than the action, but nevertheless an interesting game and storyline.
The atmosphere tries to be scary but doesn't quite succeeds, still good though.

Looking forward to the rest of the story.

Posted by Tomssuli 18th March, 2008

I liked the story much... Quite a good gameplay but buggy (once I got stuck so that I could not move in other ways than transforming and leaping around, the character wouldn't walk at all) and it was fun to have the hobo giving a helping hand.

I didn't get a menu at all on startup and when pressed enter it started the game right on... Should there be some menu in the screen where there are ice pillars and smoke?

Posted by Willy C 19th March, 2008

yeah, it is a bit buggy.

It's supposed to be building blocks
And no, there is not supposed to be any menu there, you've got all the editable options available at the start menu.

This game was KICKSASS!!! I get the feeling that you are not a kickass coder, and not a kickass artist, but you spend so much time on this game so it turned out to be awesome anyways! My favorite parts was the storyline, the hobo, and the part where your friend was driving you around on the scooter and you just had to shoot things! (it was also fun when they executed him at the end)

I can't understand people who give this game three stars. I've seen games made in a day get four stars with motivations like; "Not too bad for a beginner! Next time, use original graphics and custom movements, and make it possible to finnish the game". Man, even if there are some buggs, this game is still better then 99% of the games here.

Very good game, the atmosphere and the story were very good and pretty well presented too. The fifth star is lost due to the bugs and the fact that parts of the game seem to be missing, especially in the sound department.

There were a lot of situations where audio and visual cues would have made things a lot easier to work out (and more cool looking too). Like when the guy who gives you the disc is killed, theres no sound or blood, his head just spontaniously splits in half!

If i'm honest I found the combat with the soldiers a little bit weak in comparison to the zombies, because they had instantious reaction times and simple behaviour the only strategy really was to move and shoot and hope you don't die before they do, which, owing to the large amount of health available wasn't too difficult.

Even if some aspects of the game weren't very polished I still think it stands out for its atmosphere, engaging plot (loved the plot twists btw) and the fact that it dares to be drastically different from the multitude of MMF platformers and retro games.

Oh i also thought the hobo guy was awesome. I liked the bit where he helps you fight aswell, his AI wasnt over complicated, so he never hindered the player which is a common downfall of friendly AI.

lol, I was going to enter that competition too. I didn't get very far though. Made a level. It was a platformer, I named it "Evolution Revolution". Lost the code somewhere.

You were an astronaught. You had to shoot stuff with your laser and hitch a ride on an escape vessle after a conundrum involvng your spacecraft. The plot idea was that evolution rould revolutionize somehow.

You would have won anyway. Good times.
