REMEMBER: You can only fire big weapons in the direction you're heading, otherwise your arm will break in a horrible way.

Play a 20 round arcade game and upload your high scores to the internet. Who's the best at pwning bats? BATtle it out in the arena, unleashing your fury on these furry little blighters.

Bat Spam is a game made using the Sundown Shambles engine. I have stripped away the gameplay, storyline and upgrades and have instead replaced it all with an arena for you to fight bats in!

You should be able to pick it up as you go along, WASD to move around.

MELEE WEAPON - Swing around by moving your mouse, the faster you move it, the more damage it does.
CHAIN SAW - Hold down the left or right mouse button (or both!) to harvest bats.
PISTOLS - Fire and press R to reload. With two pistols you can fire one then reload it whilst you use the other.
BIG GUNS - You can't fire behind yourself with these. You have been warned.

Survive 20 rounds of bat filled madness! Upload your high scores to a special online table to show off your skills!
'WHY ONLY BATS?' you might ask. The reason is simple- any other sort of creature doesn't make the right sort of splat sound when you hit them with a stick.

This game includes nice, brushy grass and trees (in the high detail version), 360 degree shooting, loads of different weapons, dual gun mode, juicy sound effects and a chainsaw noise made with my own mouth! I'm afraid that people looking for a deep storyline and complex RPG elements will be disappointed, but you can't have everything in a 6 mb file.

Special thanks to Jeff Vance for helping me with the setting up of the high score table thing. Oh and for making the game maker.

Mayhap 'tis be a subtle way of proving a nonexisting point, I say?

Agh, when one has a trackball mouse, Sundown Shambles and now BatSpam are tough to play...! Having to wave the plank or crowbar around is an innovative mechanic, to be sure, but it makes things difficult for folks like me.

.. but it is at least slightly amusing that JEFF VANCE helped in the making of this game.

Haha, yeah it is.

s-m-r... I'm sorry I didn't think of people who have trackball mice, I mean, I thought that everybody used mice now a days. Plus it's such a benefit to those who do have mice it would be unwise to optimize it for something like trackballs instead.

i thought EVERYTHING is harder for trackball users.

Yeah, when desk space is at a premium, a trackball is the way to go.

Arcade version of your other game, I liked that idea
Kinda like Resident Evil 4: Mercenaries

And this game is in fact good. But it gets repetitive very quick. Always the same enemies and the same arena... come on, that's lazy. I had some ideas while shooting the bats that could make this game a real time killer and even a lot more challenging for people to fight for the best high score. Even without breaking the name 'bat spam' by adding new enemies.

- make new arena every 5 (or so) levels where bats come from other directions. Make a cellar, a cave etc where bats come from the sides or break through windows or something.

- give the player at the beginning of a round the opportunity to choose the weapons of choice. that would add a lot for people to play again to see if other weapons bring better high scores. balance the guns a little, like more damage, slower reload times so no gun is worthless of considering. Or give the player points for each cleared round that they can invest to buy new stuff like counter strike.

Oh yeah and it would be nice if you could reload a gun at any point and not only when ammo is empty. Look at real shooter games today. They all let you reload whenever you like so you can time the reloadings better.

Would really like to give you a better rating because I can see your love for making games. I think the only thing is you should take a little more time before releasing a game.

PS: MP5 did not work when shooting backwards. Oh I just saw this was your intention? Come on, thats not fair. Never change basic rules of a game!

yeah i made that mistake at first but i think if you COULD fire backwards with those it would make it a bit too easy on those rounds
