UPDATE 1.1 (9th January 2025)
- Spotlight enlarged a little to show more of the play area
- Santa now flashes upon collision with an enemy/obstacle
- Timer didn't count down on a couple of the randomised stages
- A couple of other general bug fixes

Bouncy Claus was created in a window of around seven days, and is a platformer where the player controls Santa as he bounces through a run of 20 stages. His objective? Collect all the presents scattered in each stage! Complete the run and beat the game!

However, Santa is on a pogo-stick (perhaps he's stolen a childs Christmas present - we'll never know) and is destined to jump all the time!

Be quick! It isn't long until Christmas Day, and there is a countdown! Once the timer hits zero, the game ends! But, for reasons never quite explained, every 4th stage an egg-timer can be collected that will reset the timer!

One more thing - each run is randomly generated and contains stage modifiers, so you'll never play the same run twice!

Good luck!

CONTROLS:
Arrow keys - move Santa left/right
FIRE (SHIFT by default) - Jump
ESC - return to the title screen

NOTE: Some anti-virus software may flag this game as "Suspicious" or try and remove it, known as a "false positive". It's a perfectly safe file to play.

Just sat down to play this game for a bit and I had fun! I love the style and it's very impressivle for something made in such a short amount of time.
The chiptune Christmas music was also a nice touch, did you make that yourself?
I haven't beaten it yet (because I SUCK) but I'll let you know when/if I do!

Yeah is a very good game, i liked the music too, but too difficult, at least for me (but i suck too). An Android version for it would be pretty cool

Hi both, glad you enjoyed it I appreciate it can be challenging but keep persevering! I did indeed make the music (I thought it was rather horrible to be honest but I was running out of time to compose it and release around the Xmas period).

An Android version... Who knows? Depends how many ask I suppose!

That was pretty fun - simple but generally fair gameplay - also not completed it but feels doable. Graphics were clean. enjoyed the music but might grate on me where I to try and complete all 20 levels!

Would be nice to have a stats page (furthest stage / number of completions / number of bounces) etc. but the core.

Presumably there are 20 or so different levels?

There are 20 levels out of a much larger pool, and they are completely randomised. They also contain modifiers so you'll never be sure what to expect next.

Ah understood - so chance for getting a reasonable run of levels that I'm significantly better at

Sadly not, it's pot luck I'm afraid

A fun little game (with infinite content). The pogo stick elements reminds me a bit of the Eggit games of yore.

Circy: If you re-build it in Unpacked EXE mode it might help with some of the false positives.

Hey, I managed to download this game using Brave, so I'm no longer having issues. The graphics are nice, the sound-effects are fitting, but the soundtrack isn't that good. I tend to ignore it and enjoy the rest of the game.

I managed to reach level 8 and figured out a strat for saving more time. If it generates the level with vertically positioned presents, you can stand in the middle to grab them faster. It works for the double columns, but not the triple ones, because then you're left with a single column.

I like the idea of:

- Having an hourglass-like icon that resets the timer;
- Having a "Bounce Limit" counter that, once it reaches 25 bounces, you get a gameover.

For any further notes? Maybe add a visual effect when colliding with an enemy object. It plays a slightly pitched chiptune sound-effect, which is an indication by sound, but I think making the player sprite turn completely white or making it blink white in a matter of nanoseconds could work too.

So yeah, this game reasonably kicks ass, in the context of the gameplay for how good the controls are and the difficulty!
