(i apologise for the poor hosting but my webspace is down for now)

Well here is a demo of the game ive been making on and off since Tops 3 came out.

The story is really a follow on from the first (if you ever played it) Buzz has to reach Zaks fortress and jump on his head a few times, probably gonna change somewhat later on.
I still have a few bugs im trying to work out before i can finally put it all together but for now here is a taster of the first Beach level. (which i made almost twice as long just before compiling)

Gameplay wise think of Mario bros and you're almost there.

Pretty good looking so far. The Union Jack at the end is a nice touch.

Pretty good.

Bah I hoped this would be the full game...

Hmm you forgot to reset the number of lives back to 3 when you die.

? i'm pretty damn sure i did. I wonder why it does that. Is it at all possible to change the name to add a (demo) on the end of it since i forgot too. I don't want to mislead people.

That squirrel looks like Crash Bandicoot.

Neato little platformer :), a few bugs with the grey blocks however: 1 - when you hit them going up you dont loose your y-speed so you stick to the roof an shoot up when you arnt touching them. 2 - sometimes you loose your y-speed instantly when you jump next to one touching it on the side. 3 - finally, sometimes when touching a higher wall of grey blocks you do a unnaturally high jump you jump while touching them on the side. as i said only with the grey blocks though, perhaps you should do the detection with groups (assuming you arn't :P) so you only need to code its once. keep it up though!

This is just cool.

Its nice. the graphics are good.. a little.. bland tho. The gameplay is kinda bland.. all you *can* do is jump(unless im missing something). At least it runs smoothly

Posted by RC 25th February, 2005

also you need to put in sound effects or something.. bland :P

Not a bad little game you got in the making there, Andy. I eagerly await the full game.

I second the view that the squirrel looks like Crash Bandicoot

the other levels will introduce new aspects to the gameplay. I try to keep the game simple but also varied. The character was supposed to have a backpack with a bird inside that allows him to glide but that was too much like banjo kazooie

The graphics are alright. I like the level design, though. I wish I knew what the coins were for - they should make you jump higher, or shoot blobs, or something, to make them worth bothering to collect. Unless it's meant to be easy, I would put more enemies in, too! When you 'brush' a block on your way up, as you jump, it gives you a bit of a boost. Also, wasn't there a spring right under some spikes?!

by all you can do is jump, i meant the characters base movement.. even mario 1 could.. run and hold things.

Mario 2 could, but i dont think Mario 1 could.

Looks nice and simple, i might check it out.

I had the idea to put shops in certain levels where you can buy things like extra lives or powerups or even unlock hidden levels. The coins will have a use.

:P

mario 1 had pipes :P

Mario 1 had powerups and interesting enemies and secrets covering every corner. This is a pretty shallow game :/

cute

This level is easy and simple because it is the first level, i havent made the rest yet but i am listening to your critisisms. and plaease dont expect it to be as good as the mario series. They are after all questionably the best platform games ever.

Sonic and MegamanX games are the best ever :]
