Following on from their recent Pesky Power-ups Compo entry Power-Up Haven we have another game from TypeJCW, who has now given us AERO Xtreme demo made using Clickteam Fusion. I was able to play the tutorial, but nobody else was around so I've not checked out the Lacewing/Bluewing-powered multiplayer.
Comments from the Creator:
"Welcome to AERO prison. Thanks to your 100-page criminal record, you are being drafted into a bunch of different arenas, against other prisoners, and only 1 team survives. Just make sure to bring a weapon to the arena in good condition, or you know what happens.
AERO Xtreme is a 1v1 slow-paced shooter game; every match lasts 5 minutes, and only one can survive. If both prisoners fail to eliminate each other, a deadly gas will be released into the arena, killing you and your enemy."

| New Game: The Castle of Dr. Hoot v0.1.6-demo |

In their debut submission to The Daily Click, BitWizard has released The Castle of Dr. Hoot v0.1.6-demo, a demo of their upcoming point and click adventure horror game which was designed to be a parody of educational games.
If you find the art style or developer name familiar it might be because they made The Tale of Three Jacks as part of the Halloween game competition ran by Toby Davis I mentioned back in October 2024. I enjoyed playing that game, so look forward to what they end up coming up with in this new adventure.
Comments from the Creator:
"Welcome to the mysterious castle of spelling extraordinaire, Dr. Hoot! Explore the classroom, the lab, the library and the...detention dungeon? Put your mind to the test with spelling challenges and logic riddles guaranteed to stump even the most well-read 5th grader! Just don't get caught breaking the rules, Dr. Hoot is known to get nasty!
This demo contains 2 levels or "days" in which the core mechanics of the game are showcased."

Enjoy finding buttons off the floor? This game could be for you! Developer GothMimeGames has announced their game The Button Maze is scheduled - at the time of writing - for release on Steam on 25th June 2026. The game features some rather lovely pixel art and 8-bit chiptune music, showcasing a nice throwback to the games of old. Collect all the buttons before the clock runs out! Worth keeping your button-holes on.
Comments from the Creator:
"It was May 13th, 1999. Skyler and her sister Garnet were wandering the forest late at night. On their way home when suddenly Garnet happened to notice her bag had a huge hole in it. This brought her into a panic as the "Sewing Buttons" she took from home belonged to her Grandmother. Skyler told her to calm down and promised her she would go and find the "Sewing Buttons" that fell out of her bag..."

Apologies for the lack of posting over the last month - I figured it'd be good to let the Pesky Power-Ups competition breathe during its duration; congratulations to the winning entry, and thanks to all who took part :)
Onto regular business: Clickteam have recently announced the release of a cool extension for Android projects called the Android Text To Speech Object, created by Maximiliano Corbo. It costs £12 and allows the user to create their own text to speech using varying parimeters.
Comments from the Creator:
"Now you can generate your own Text to speech voices in your own Android #madewithfusion projects! With a robust selection of Actions, Conditions and Expressions including pitch adjustment and langauge selection, the power of voice is now available to you!"

| BOTTI BOLT wins the Pesky Power-ups Game Jam! |

The games were assessed by Joshtek and Chris Street based on their gameplay, creativity and use of the Pesky Power-ups theme. We had four submissions to the Pesky Power-ups Game Jam, each approaching the theme in a radically different way. It was great to see how much variety this competition inspired. Botti Bolt: Ctrl+Alt+Defeat was the clear Gold winner, excelling at all three of the main judging criteria. The author Devid K can now receive a well-deserved shiny prize from Clickteam. Exterminator and Penguin Salvation both merited Silver, but for different reasons. Power-Up Haven completes the medal rankings with Bronze, with its visual effects being a particular highlight. As such, the final rankings are: Click here for the full scoring and reviews. |
| New TDC Poll: How many games are you currently working on? |

While Chris and I are busy playing and judging the excellent games submitted to the 20-day Pesky Power-ups game jam, it's time for a poll change!
The new poll asks: "How many video games are you currently working on?". I developed these questions with LordHannu a while ago and this poll was alluded to in my interview with JustRobsGames back in March.
The previous poll asked the question "How long did it take you to complete the last game you posted to TDC" and had been running since June 2024.

Out of those who reported a time period, 61% took a month or less, with 39% taking less than a week; 16% took between 2 and 12 months; and 23% took a year or more. Within that, four respondents, or 13%, said it took them 4 or more years to create their last game. Nobody reported it taking them 2 years to create their last game.
Six respondents said it was so long ago they could not remember, so hopefully they will find the time and energy to make another game soon.
Of the remaining six respondents, half said they are still working on their first submission, and half said they do not submit games to The Daily Click. We hope to see their first DC submissions in the future if they have not been submitted in the interim period while the poll was open! |

Penguin Salvation is the third entry into the 20-day Pesky Power-ups game, brought to us by MinkoedZamorVedro who has been submitted numerous quirky games to The Daily Click since Hryak Legend back in 2021. Try to save penguin race in this pesky adventure game.
Comments from the Creator:
"You start your game right at your igloo. The main objective of the game is collecting power-ups, which are represented by different fishes. Almost each fish gives you some bonus that helps you find another power-ups. Some of them are very easy to find, while some of them are hidden soundly. There are some kinds of enemies, which will try to kill you. At first, you'll just have to avoid them. You can see all your current power-ups by clicking on the button at the right bottom corner. To go back to your game, click on "Back" button. If you lose all your health, you'll get to game over screen - but don't worry! You'll be able to respawn with all the power-ups you had."

BOTTI BOLT - Ctrl+Alt+Defeat is the second entry into the 20-day Pesky Power-ups game, brought to us by Devid K. If you enjoyed Devid's game BALD MAN then this new platformer should be right up your street.
Comments from the Creator:
"This is a small platformer with a robot that can get new powers by using microchips. Travel through various levels, fight enemies and 4 bosses, collect screws and buy upgrades at the different shops and unlock new levels. I hope you have fun with this one!"

Power-Up Haven is the first entry into the 20-day Pesky Power-ups game, brought to us by first-time submitter TypeJCW. The game is a mouse and keyboard controlled top-down shoot-em-up.

You are stuck, with no hope of escaping, but with each new wave, you get a power-up from HAVEN. Don't be fooled, because each power-up has a bit of a corrupt virus inside it."
